The next rearranged show was in Baton Rouge on the 31st May, with no real unusual songs, or highlights such as My Way or Hurt (thanks, illiterate Elvis freak; I'll just remember it on my own) performed.

The penultimate tour of Elvis' long career kicked off on 20th May in Knoxville, with a good, but run-of-the-mill, show which included a brilliant version of How Great Thou Art. The tour then moved onto Louisville with a more-or-less identical show to the previous night's but tonight's show featured his first single - That's All Right - in between two other old classics - I Got A Woman-Amen & Love Me.

Night three of the tour was in Largo, and this was a bad show for the period, and even the usual highlight of the show not being performed, Hurt. Things picked up on the 23rd with not only Hurt back in the setlist but another highlight of the show, My Way, also having its tour-premiere at the show.

Elvis had worn the Mexican Sundial suit at every show of the tour so far, and he would use it at every show this tour which led to rumors that there were, in fact, two identical suits which he alternated between each night, but the maker of the suits for him has confirmed that only one Sundial suit was made, and Elvis wore it nearly non-stop during most of 1977!

It was onto Augusta on the 24th and this show is one of the best of the tour. There are no real surprise songs in the show, other than an excerpt of Never Been To Spain, but all the songs are performed well for the period, and Elvis even introduced his record producer Felton Javis to the stage, and he made him stay on stage while he sung If You Love Me (Let Me Know). The 25th was, like the previous night, another good show with Tryin' to Get To You getting its first, of two, performance of the tour.

The tour then moved to Binghamton for two shows on the 26th & 27th, with the highlights of both shows being a rare version of Why Me Lord on the first night & rare versions of Heartbreak Hotel & Bridge Over Troubled Water on the second night. The real highlight, though, was a fantastic version of Unchained Melody just before closing on the second night. It was then onto Philadelphia for the next show, and the only surprise was a very exciting version of Polk Salad Annie before the band intros.

The next night is a very interesting show among fans. It was in Baltimore, and, looking at the setlist, it's a fantastic show with a lot of rare songs performed, including That's All Right & Blue Christmas very early in the show, and Help Me, Blue Suede Shoes, a verse of The Wonder Of You & One Night being performed near the end of the show. But it's what happened in between these two sections that's become the focal point of fans' interest. After You Gave Me a Mountain Elvis asked Sherrill Nielsen to sing a couple of songs. Elvis then sang Teddy Bear-Don't Be Cruel, and then he left the stage, leaving the Stamps & then Kathy to keep the audience entertained, after which Charlie did the band introductions which, in total, lasted nearly 30 minutes. After the band intros Elvis reappeared to finish School Day, and stating that "natured called". Things got back to normal after this, but reports have been that fans were crying and leaving the auditorium while he was gone.

What was really the problem we may never know!

The tour should have ended at the last show but, because he'd cancelled the last four shows of his previous tour, they were rearranged to the end of this tour. So, Jacksonville was the next night with another run-of-the-mill show, but I Really Don't Want to Know To Know getting its first ever performance, 6 years after he'd recorded it. Although it wasn't a complete version, with the bridge missing, it became one of the highlights of the show, with his delicate reading of the lyrics.

The last show had a few unusual songs performed. Help Me, An American Trilogy & Polk Salad Annie all performed just before the band introductions, with the latter two them being the final ever versions of the songs in front of an audience. The other highlight of the show was the house-raising performance of Unchained Melody.

In under a month Elvis would be doing his final ever performance on stage!

Image may contain: 2 people, indoor

Facebook profile photo is courtesy of Al Rose III's son—with Helmut Newton at A Gallery For Fine Photography

Shown here drinking wine with my favorite photographer, Helmut Newton. This must have been 1991, New Orleans, A Gallery For Fine Photography, taken by famous photog, Al Rose III's son.

this is probably only the second of two Helmut shows that the great Joshua Mann Pailet hosted for Helmie--still quite a coup.

No automatic alt text available.

his wife, June Newton, a great photog in her own right accompanied him--

i sold a beautiful $5,000 large photo that magical evening of a model after a haircut with hair all over her lovely tits to Edwin H. Neill II, RIP--

you're welcome, Josh--no commissh.

it is now hopefully bequeathed to my dearest friend, Edwin Neill III, son of Edwin Neill II and CFO of Neill Corp and Paris Parker Salon & Spa fame.

Al Rose was responsible for at least four of my favorite things:

Rediscovery and appreciation of

E. J. Bellocq's photos, as seen in his groundbreaking book on Storyville, 'Storyville, New Orleans: Being an Authentic, Illustrated Account of the Notorious Red Light District',

which led to everyone's favorite prostitute film (not Pretty Woman--oh, now i get it), Pretty Baby (film).

AND

i just found out he is in my favorite 17-part television documentary series on the history of modern pop music, directed by Tony PalmerAll You Need is Love,

AS Well as his encyclopedic knowledge and lifelong celebration of New Orleans music and culture.

Help: How to write the perfect "Did you know" Hook (i like no. 3: "Make it crazy!")

Help: How to write the perfect "Did you know" Hook

On the Main Page of Wikipedia, there is a section which is called did you know (DYK).

Below are four easy steps to make this process easier for a beginner. Note, not every article will be able to fit the criteria below and that is all right because no article is perfect.

1. Make it interesting

Writing a DYK hook that essentially says, "Did you know ... that it has been said that one plus one equals two?" is unlikely to get attention because it is not only boring, but it also tells the casual reader all that they need to know. A good hook should make the reader want to find out more information. When your hook is not about snails in pillows (fossilized snails found in rock formations), you might have to write in a style that increases a reader's want for more information. For example, if your subject involves how an island was misidentified for many years, you could say, "... that Adventurer Island was thought to exist for five hundred years before it was proven to be nearby Guano Island?" This makes the reader want to read up on why the island was misidentified for so long. Another example that garnered 30,100 views when it was used on the main page is the following,

"... that some hermaphrodite snails and slugs pierce each other with love darts (pictured) during mating?"

A love dart sounds interesting because it involves not only snail sex, but the name itself makes one want to learn more about what it is.

2. Make it weird

Another way to create a good hook is to make it weird. Sure you could just say that the Termitaradus mitnicki no longer lives on this planet, or you could say,

"... that researchers have identified the life form (pictured) which no longer lives on this planet?"

That hook makes people want to find out more about how scientists have not only managed to find a deceased life form intact but also find out how they were able to identify it. In addition, you do not have to add the title of the article to the hook. Masking the name of the article can work perfectly if it might confuse people. For example, the hook,

"... that James Brown (pictured) flew an F-22 Raptor and survived a fuel leak while traveling at almost the speed of sound?"

works because they are going to think of the Godfather of Soul James Brown, not James E. Brown III, a civilian test pilot.

3. Make it crazy

In the words of the late George N. Parks, "Make it crazy!"
Feel free to do whatever you want to help make the hook better, as long as it stays within the guidelines of the DYK process. Imagination is allowed on Wikipedia because it helps to get things done. The same goes for a hook. You can either create lines of boring questions or create something that is truly innovative and inspiring to others who are aspiring Wikipedians.

4. Make it inspiring to others

Finally in the words of George, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." Plan to make your hook the greatest that it can possibly be because you might just inspire someone to create an article and improve the encyclopedia that either might have always vandalized the Wiki or just thought that editing is dumb. The DYK process is Wikipedia's one chance to showcase all work, even entry-level work and if you can succeed at that, you have succeeded for the day.

One of the first French new wave bands, in 1976 the band took part in the 100 Club Punk Festival in London, sharing the bill with such bands as Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned and Buzzcocks.

A single was released in a picture cover on Polydor Records in 1977, "Boozy Creed", with "Driver Blues" on the B-side.

The single met with mixed reviews, causing Polydor to abandon the release of the band's eponymous debut album outside France.

The album was described by Allmusic as

"a largely flat, bland collection of recycled Stones and New York Dolls riffs with low-quality vocals",
while Trouser Press were also not impressed with what they described as

"uninspired sub-Rolling Stones rock'n'boogie with terrible vocals by Elli Medeiros".

The band split up in 1979, with Elli Medeiros and Jacno then forming the duo, Elli et Jacno. Medeiros went on to a solo career, releasing the Elli album in 1988.

Jacno later released several solo albums as well as working with several other artists including Mareva Galanter.

Medeiros was chosen by Dev Hynes as part of his 'Fantasy Band' in 2008.

Denis Quillard alias Jacno and Elli Medeiros decided to start a music duo after leaving the punk band The Stinky Toys

Jacno composed and performed the music and Elli sang and wrote the lyrics. They released three albums together before splitting up and beginning solo careers. A compilation Symphonies de Poche was released by Virgin ten years later.

Jacno (born 3 July 1957, Paris - died 6 November 2009) was a French musician.

Born as Denis Quillard, he was a founding member of the first French punk band The Stinky Toys. In the early 1980s, after the group disbanded, he teamed up with former Stinky Toys singer Elli Medeiros to form the pop duo Elli et Jacno. Jacno had also released a number of solo albums since 1979.

A chain smoker, he took his professional name from the name of the graphic artist who drew the Gallic helmet logo of French Gauloises cigarettes brand.

He died overnight between 5–6 November from cancer, aged 52.
