Bark Bark Disco stem from the island of Malta and the city of Berlin and were formed in August 2009, a week before they played their debut concert with Bonnie Prince Billy in a masonic cemetery in Valletta. Allegedly it was this gig that actually pushed to band to formation.

Their debut video for their single "Song for the Lovers" was a tribute to 70s porn star legend Brigitte Lahaie, and was taken from Erwin Dietrich's classic film Six Swedish Girls in a Boarding School. It caused quite a stir on youtube & music channels alike due to its almost pornographic nature. It also clocked a quarter of a million views on youtube in under 2 weeks.

The band has often defined their sound as "bedroom pop", mainly because of the fact that their debut album, Your Mum Says Hello! was recorded entirely in their bedroom.
