Profile

A medieval crust, a sloppy splash of sauce, and the sweetest, freshest mozzarella make the pie at this famous pizza shack the best of its coal-oven kind by a wide margin. The occasional pizzaiolo outburst, the casual policy concerning store hours (open until the dough runs out), and the no-frills, airplane-wine-bottle selection only add to the charm. Forget about the Manhattan branches and their foggy affiliations. Every self-respecting pizza-loving New Yorker should visit the Coney Island original at least once in his lifetime. Go soon before they run out of dough permanently. - Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld

Note

Totonno's only serves pizza by the pie.

Totonno's: Premier American PIZZA PIE PERFECTION (Coney Island) Perpetuity!

Totonno's:America's Premier PIZZA PIE PERFECTION in Coney Island Perpetuity

The Coney Island summer season this year still thrived considering the embarrassing hishaps of Thor Equities and the first time in almost four decades that Astroland was not here. Coney summer goers did do without another Coney iconic place: the pizza place..."Totonno's Pizza.

According to the owners of Totonno's Pizza which was damaged in a fire last March will reopen sometime around mid-October. Though the fire did cause some damage, the closure was for reasons of the buildings structure as city inspection recognized. The building, located at 1524 Neptune Avenue, was found to be compromised to the degree that it couldn't support the weight of the oven it housed.

But renovations have been underway all summer so expect to grab yourself a warm slice this fall and winter.

Dante's Inferno

After walking into the mouth of a devil, riders found themselves within a dome housing a Chance Trabant. Much like the Abominable Snowman, the dome was lined with multiple lighting effects including rows of flashing white lights, red lights and strobes. Loud music would play as the ride began to spin and tilt. After a few minutes, the trabant would level out and the operator would exclaim that the ride would now go backwards, complete with the ominous sound of screeching brakes as the ride halted before reversing.

Filmed over three years by Robert Johnson, with a cast taken from the very streets of Tijuana where it was filmed, "Glitterbox" has been called the only film that accurately portrays the hidden world of crime, prostitution, corruption and drugs while still bringing love to the table.
