ABOVE: Michael JacksonMICHAEL Jackson has been “buried” by an African tribe who believe the star was a god with magic powers.
The Anyi people, based in Ivory Coast, have worshipped Jacko since he visited them in 1992.
They crowned him Prince Michael Amalaman Anohin to make him their king-in-waiting and believed he would eventually base himself in their homeland to rule over them.
Tribal leaders went to the American Embassy after Jacko died to demand his body was sent to them, but their request was turned down.
They put his spirit to rest at the weekend in a funeral-style ceremony on a football pitch in front of thousands of grief-stricken mourners.
The service was held in the village of Krindjabo, in the Sanwi Kingdom, where people travelled from miles around to see his spirit laid to rest.
The Anyi people insist Jacko’s presence has watched over them since his visit 17 years ago, when he went to Africa to “sound out the architecture of my DNA”.
Chieftains are still hopeful his body will be moved so they can carry out a traditional river burial.
Tribesman Emmanuel Kassy Kofi said: “If the Americans or his family permitted us to bring the body here, we’d do what needs to be done.
“It was Michael himself who tested his DNA, found this is where he came from and said it’d be good to find his family.”
Meanwhile, a photo of Jacko’s deathbed shows what appears to be a giant nappy on his mattress.
He possibly wore the incontinence pad as a result of the strong drugs he used to sleep.
Jacko was addicted to pain-killers and police are working on the theory he used coma-inducing Propofol.
