Big Texan Inn 7701 E Interstate 40, Amarillo, TX 79118-6915Whole lotta gristle goin' on . . - Apr 23, 2010You know steaks. TBT knows beef. TBT will sell you sphincter meat in the shape of a cone in the hopes that you'll put ice cream in it to share with your kids. Cows yield good steaks and TBT is proud to sell them. Cows yield so-so or not-so good steaks and TBT is glad to sell them, too. It's luck of the draw and they'll charge you the same, regardless. I complained and they made good. A $24 steak in a world famous steak house should not require an intervention. Decent beer in large doses gives great latitude to second chances.TBT is not a bad place. The rest of my food was fresh and flavorful. There are several sides from which you can pick two and many add more $ toppings for your steak. If, by chance, you don't care for sphincter, TBT offers a respectable variety of still more beef, fish and chicken carcasses, as well as desserts.
TBT Is genuinely world famous. If you can eat a 72 pound steak and bite off the head of a live chicken in less than an hour, China forgives our debt. Their billboards remind you as much as they stretch 250 miles in either direction along I 40. Not surprisingly, it's touristy and it thrives on it's schtick. On any given night, you can expect a 30/70% local to tourist mix.
There are few places on earth that will provide a worn out but free limo and a friendly, tip worthy driver to fetch you from or return you to your favorite Amarillo hotel or truck stop. Save the planet, take the limo. Don't drink and drive, take the limo.
