What a remarkable hour this is!
Some of the rarest and most long-lost footage has been rescued.
While it often requires an expensive ($1,000 or more) telecine to accurately bring old home movies to digital view, this show has done a very good job of digitizing via a well synched projector, images one never thought would ever been found.
The nine shorts include some vintage performers in drag, or with drag co-stars. That includes Cocinnelle the most famous early cabaret drag performer, Kim Christy modeling and the late great Lisa De Leeuw visiting a TV.
In the late 60's or early 70's, crossdressing and transvestism was still considered kind of jokey, so it's no surprise that a few of the little films in here either have fun with drag intentionally, or are a little strangely acted. Intentionally odd is the guy in outlandish drag trying to convince to black girls that he's just one of them. Hardly. Well intentioned but somewhat hilarious, is the Latino who is caught in bra, panties and stockings and garters by his huffy girlfriend.
Also here are very early performances by a transsexuals, at a time when nobody knew whether this was real or some kind of fake. The term "she male" was virtually unknown until Alexis Livingston arrived, and about the same time, an attractive nameless blonde. A few years later and there was Sulka, Candy and so many more. Here is some historic beginnings.
Historic IS the key word on some of these. The Coccinelle clip may have been racy in its day, but that was long ago. Today it may seem more like a 20's silent movie comedy...her date impatiently waits while she swivels over to the hen house to get eggs, sits and has her breakfast, takes her bubble bath (ok, few went topless in the 20's) and later she finally puts on a sexy robe and lets him take pictures of her. Even so...it's a nice mix of sauce (saucy funny sauce, hot sauce, etc.)
