DEAR DAVID HAMILTON,
MS. FRANCIS LAI, PATTI D'ARBANVILLE,I HOPE YOU ALL MAY BE DELIGHTED BY THE APPLE I OFFER, AND TASTE THE OVERRIPE SWEET GREEN APPLEJACK OF 1977, BEFORE THE SNAKE B'YT'ES FIRST, BANNING US FROM ITS EDEN.
ESPECIALLY YOU, D.H., WHAT WITH THE TROUBLES AT HOME OVER SILLY FIRKIN PUBIC OFFICIALS. YOU SHOULD SAY, "EXCUSE ME GUVNOR, BUT ARE YOU AWARE THAT YOU ARE QUESTIONING THE MORALS AND ARTISTIC INTEGRITY OF ONE AND THE SAME GENTLEMAN WHOSE INVENTION--SOFT-FOCUS PHOTOGRAPHY, INTENDED EXACTLY, SIR, THAT WHICH YOU OR SUCH LIKE YOURSELF NOT BE TROUBLED FINDING: FUZZY, FURLESS FOLDS OF FECUND FEMININITY, FULLY! PERHAPS TOO FEW IN YEARS, FROM WHAT, I KNOW NOT. BUT "A" SOCIETY NOW SAYS, 'WHAT WAS ART IS NOW NOT.' BUT HOW DOES THE DAVID FEEL DRESSED IN SOCIETY'S CLOTHING, SIR? NUDE, THAT IS HOW; AND NOW YOU SEE MY PROBLEM. ART IS BUT ART ONCE AND FOR ALL, ONLY "A" SOCIETY BECOMES ARTLESS, MY KIND SIR; AND FOR IT, WOULD I RATHER BURN, CLUTCHING THE PINK PUISSANCE PROUDLY IN A PREMATURE PYRE, AND PETTING MY PEELING PORTFOLIO.
THEY'LL WRITE: HE WAS BLURRED AT THE STAKE, LIKE JOAN. DON'T LET YOU OR ANY MEMBER OF YOUR TRIBUNAL CAST A DOUBTING AYE TO MY POTENTIALLY PROBLEMATIC PREDICAMENT OF PURPORTED PERVERSITY . IT IS THE PURITY OF MY ADOLESCENT CHRONICLING WHICH YOU WANT TO POP, IS IT NOT? IGNITE YOUR FIRE, OR PRODUCE A PIN, SIR, IF YOU WISH, SIR, BUT YOU'LL GAIN NO ENTRANCE TO MY HOME OR THAT WHICH IN ITS WALLS ARE HOLY."
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SPECIAL MOOD--SOMEWHERE BETWEEN OPIUM AND A RANDY TEENAGE SUMMER'S DAYDREAM [AT AROUND 2:30, WHEN THE CHINESE MAN GOES TO THE DENTIST].
AND LAI! LADY LAI; LAI ACROSS MY BIG BRASS BED YOUR ACADEMY AWARD AND THIS--BILITIS--SO RARE, SO LIGHT LIKE ETHER--TRULY BATHETIQUE MAXIMUM, TRES BON. MERCI, FRANCIS.
AND I DEDICATE THIS TO MY SPECIAL MUSE WHOM IT WAS WE FIRST DID WATCH TOGETHER BUT SEPARATE THE PRETTY PLAYING, AND DID LAUGH AND LISTEN TO DULCET TONES ACCOMPANYING TENDER TOWELINGS.
[AND ALSO THIS TO THE HORRIFIED PHOTOGRAPHERS AFTER WILLIAM EGGLESTON, AND THE MILLIONS OF 1970s LADIES WHOSE VALENTINE WAS A SOFT, MACRO-BLURRY ROSE PETAL, BEADED OF DEW DISTINGUISHED BY ITS GLISTENING AGAINST CRIMSON, AS IF A MAN WITH CATARRH OF BOTH EYES WERE STROLLING IN WINDSOR'S ROYAL GARDEN, WHEREUPON BENDING TO INHALE A FRAGRANT PERFUME, A TEAR DID FALL ONTO A PETAL; FOR BEAUTY HAD HE GLIMPSED--AS SO TOO, THE WORLD, GLIMPSED

CHRISTIAN DIOR: John Galliano: Haute Couture [Printemps/Été (SPRING/SUMMER) 2009]

Haute Couture
CHRISTIAN DIOR
Christian Dior presented a truly magnificent Spring/Summer collection…
John Galliano sent out a jubilant and summery lesson in style with haute couture that is "more Dior than Dior."
Drawing inspiration from classic Flemish painters, the season's collection revisits Dior's traditional structuring and cuts.
All eyes were instantly drawn to pleated draping effects and exquisitely complex embroidery.
Playing in counterpoint to the ample, full skirts were assertive shoulders, slender waists and hats sprung from a quirky flourish of the paintbrush.
Sculpted from generous swirls of material with crinolined hemlines, the dresses offered a peek of spring in flowery prints inspired by porcelain Delftware.

ELVIS: DOWN ON THE GEISHA! 16-YR-OLD STIPPER, TURA SATANA ('MISS JAPAN BEAUTIFUL,' STAR OF 'FASTER PUSSYCAT!') SHOWS ELVIS - ASIAN ART OF CUNNILINGUS!
PATRICIA "Patti" D'ARBANVILLE APPEARED IN TWO WARHOL FILMS, AND AS CAT STEVENS' GROUPIE/OLD LADY, SHE INSPIRED HIS 'LADY D'ARBANVILLE' FROM THEIR ONE-MONTH SEPARATION; HOWEVER, HER MOST NOTABLE CLAIM TO FAME CAME IN 1977, WHERE SHE PLAYED THE LEAD ROLE IN David Hamilton's 'BILITIS' [SOFT-CORE, FRENCH, HORNY FANTASY OF ADOLESCENT GIRLS' COMING-OF-AGE [DIRECTED BY THE MAN WHO INVENTED SOFT-FOCUS PHOTOGRAPHY!].

Russ Meyer, 1965], WHOSE CLAIM IT IS, ACCORDING TO P.D. [*on some of this information, i'm inclined to agree with 'groupie blog;' not so much from the incorrect spelling, but from the extremely common PR practice of "retrospective sex-linking," usually used by non-celebrities, seeking publicity--certainly not the case here [although PDB's cum-well must be running dry]; however until, i can prove otherwise, i'm giving Tura, P.D & PDB the benefit of the doubt]
Andy Warhol Interview Magazine, April 1973
"Patti D'Arbanville is a young actress who has appeared in three films to date: Flesh, L'Amour and La Maison, which was a critical and commercial success in France. She has been through the pop hippy scene in New York and California, the rock groupie scene in London, the chic ready to wear scene in Paris, always traveling fast and light."
INTERVIEW:
Patti D'Arbanville: There's such freedom in something like L'Amour that I just run wild. I mean, at times I was just foaming at the mouth. I haven't seen the film, just some rushes of me in the bathtub, and I was quiet for a change. I grew up on Bleecker and MacDougal. The Figaro was right across the street...I asked my mother if I could stay out until midnight...she said, 'Well, of course, it's only across the street.' Then I started going to Ondine. Then I decided to go to California with these two girls and my best girlfriend who was pregnant. We had spent all the money for her abortion on mescaline and spent three nights in a hotel with some boys freaked out on mescaline. We got $1,000 for the abortion by going up to this guy in Ondine and asking him for it...I made Flesh the...I went back to California, back to New York...Bert Stern took me to Paris to do the collections...went to London and stayed at Donald Cammell's house for a couple of months. Then I went to Hollywood to do a movie with *Nic Roeg...It was called "Deadly Honeymoon"... but it didn't work out. Jim Aubrey didn't like what Nic had done to the script...Nic wouldn't do it any way but his own..Steven wrote that song [Lady D'Arbanville by Cat Stevens] when I left for New York. I left for a month, it wasn't the end of the world was it? But he wrote this whole song: 'Lady D'Arbanville, why do you sleep so still.' It's about me dead. So while I was in New York, for him it was like I was lying in a coffin...he wrote that because he missed me, because he was down... It's a sad song.
