Cindy & Bert: The Dog of Baskerville (1971)

If there was a prize for the stupidest cover version, this song would definitely be a hot contender:

every time I listen to it, I think: hm-mm, what did Outta Cheeseburger and Norbert Maria Berger think here?
 my tip: not much.
 and the producers?

probably the following:
hey, there's this new rock band (Black
Sabbath), they have a successful song (Paranoid), let's do that in German.
but why with Cindy & Bert?!
Well, you have to accept that there are questions that probably can never be answered.

Various Artists: Pop in Germany 1 (2001)

the song was originally released in 1971 as the b-side of the single "holly holy", said a-side is also a perversion, of a Neil diamond Christmas song.
I know the song from Bear Family's first installment of his Pop in Germany series which hits the ears of interested German fans of German hits.
awful nice!
even if Cindy & Bert top everything, which I know in this regard ...

By the way, the song from German TV, still outlives (almost) the craziness.

the dog from baskerville turns out to be a cute yawning lap dog, Cindy
& Bert are standing around like stoned, while funny dressed people
are being filmed, who, if I'm not mistaken, blabber about each other
(1:30) ... bizarro total.

PS. apropos bad cover-versions, here again the note on shit-piss nice list.
