You definitely should, but be careful where you use them.

Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) are roughly five times as efficient as a typical household incandescent light bulb. They also last up to 50x longer, since they don't burn out (they don't have a filament), and are a great way to save some money and help the environment.

However, unlike incandescent lighting, CFLs usually take a minute to fully light up. I wouldn't install them in bathrooms or by staircases, since these places need to be fully lit quickly for safety. They also contain mercury, which is something to watch out for especially if you have children.
