Here is the Boyz II Men Open Arms video and lyrics. It is the lead single of the legendary R&B group’s forthcoming album Love which will be released on November 17, 2009. The song can be heard via the video below. The official music video will be posted as soon as it is available. The song is a cover of the 1982 Journey hit and was produced by Randy Jackson, widely known as a judge on American Idol. He was also the producer of the group’s 2007 Grammy-nominated album, Motown: A Journey Through Hitsville USA which was also an album of covers.

Apple and iTunes, along with the iPod, have come to dominate music in a very big way these days, but did you also know that the Mac and Apple can also be found featured in song themselves? Well it’s true, and whether your an Apple fan boy or not, some of these songs like, “I Fell In Love at the Apple Store,” are as Gizmodo said ” …….. catchy as hell” , and I whole heartily agree with them, even though I must also admit I had to play the above song several times before it really caught on with me.

Earlier this week, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its nominees for 2010, with the stipulation that only five out of the twelve are going to actually make the final list and get invited to Cinderella’s Ball at the Waldorf Astoria – another antiquated institution which actually makes it the perfect venue for a Rock and Rock Hall of Fame event.  Don’t get me wrong…wanting to honor the Great Ones of Rock is a fine idea.

Ask anyone over 30 and they will agree…..The scene in Black America is darker and more forboding than it has been in years, on the surface that is. We’ve lost our creativity, our imposing stature as a people and in my opinion, our uniqueness. Well, let’s just say it’s harder to find. The problem? Corporate America has pigeon-holed us into DEMOGRAPHICS, which is another way of saying,”likely to buy” or “not likely to buy”. The corporations also don’t fully understand Black people.

Email to a Friend September 29, 2009 by PatrickThe Laughing Man are a Washington DC based trio comprised of Michael Harris (drums), Luke Stewart (bass, saxophone) and Brandon Moses (vocals, guitar). And during the last year they’ve been quietly garnering attention for their artsy, yet uniquely soulful live performances. As you’ll see, there is some debate as to what these guys sound like. Even they will admit that their sonic origins are a bit convoluted.

Ciara unleashed “Fantasy Ride,” her third studio album, this year, but reports in the industry have it that she’s already busy at work on her fourth material, which is slowly nearing completion. Critics did not buy “Fantasy Ride” and fans were almost equally not enthusiastic about it, which is why the singer is now looking to make amends by coming out with something truly impressive, Rap Up reveals. Work started on the yet-untitled project a good while back, with Ciara relocating to Los Angeles to be able to put in longer hours.

September 29th, 2009JohnLeave a commentGo to comments I’ve decided to start a new feature here at Living with Balls. It will be called from Worst to First. In this feature, I will take a legendary musician(s) who has released several records and rank their worst album all the way to their best album. This will primarily be rap music but I will try and keep it diverse for the sake of my readers. Hopefully the column will spark some debate in the comment section. The first person featured will be my all-time favorite rapper: Tupac Shakur.

I’m pretty sure this was the model of my first tape deck. That was a while ago, though. Could be wrong. Getting my first tape deck was an amazing event in my life.  I went from constantly living on the whim of the DJ to being able to program my own little radio station of my favorite songs.  The one recorded-from-radio mixtape I listened to most often before it met its sad and sudden end at some point in the early 90s was a 60-minute cassette of songs recorded in 1985 off of a radio show

About two months ago, the icon, Jay-Z, released his first single off  his upcoming album, the Blueprint 3 . The song is entitled “D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)”. Jay-Z is the first come out and put a stranglehold on the artificial use of the autotoner on almost every song currently especially in the game of Hip-Hop. It was not a direct cut on a particular artist but most new artists are using the autotuner to gain exposure. the use autotuner is so mainstream that is has almost taken control of the top music charts.

Recently, a friend of mine at work turned my ear to MC Esoteric’s new album Saving Seamus Ryan . Some people might know Esoteric from his work with 7L, whom he has been collaborating with since 1994, but a few years ago he began venturing out on his own and put out a couple albums as Egoclapper and an album full of Japanese tv show samples called Esoteric vs Japan (although I have yet to listen to any of these).

HOW TO USE FACEBOOK TO THE MAX!artiewayne.wordpress.com

When my friend music producer Art Munson, asked me if I was on Facebook, I told him I was wary of social networks. I dismissed them as places to go if you want an illusion of popularity or if you’re nosy and want to peer into the lives of other people you may or may not know. When I joined Facebook I expected a commercial, manipulative atmosphere. Instead, I found a friendly site that easily connects or reconnects people with each other.

Hi, my name is Megan but personally, I hate that name so don’t call me by that. It’s just too common. Natomie is my internet nickname, the first role-play name I ever had, my friend came up with it. Natomie, Nat, even Tomie is fine. Couldn’t care less just please try not to call me Megan. I love role-playing though I shan’t be in a bunch seeing as my life is a tad busy and I feel that it’s better to be in one really good role-play than in five really bad role-plays. I’m into music but I hate rap and country.

Funky Expeditions: New Jack Swing When you think of big producers, you may think about Quincy Jones, Pharrell Williams, or Timbaland. But these days, people don’t really mention Teddy Riley. Teddy Riley was the Pharrell of his day, and basically created the genre that is known as New Jack Swing. He started out as a producer and performer at a young age, in a lil’ old place called HARLEM. So, what exactly IS New Jack Swing? Although the music was featured in the film New Jack City , it is NOT just music from the soundtrack.

OBAMA HELPS RAPPERS RAP MORE MATURE LIKE Rappers around the states claim that President Obama has ushered in a brand new era of more mature lyrics and rhymes in their music.  The African American President has inspired them to rap about things that matter in life.  This of course is proven by the songs that these rap artists are bringing out.  Such as Twista’s “Wetter (Calling You Daddy)” and Pitbull’s “Hotel Room Service”.  These songs really show the growth and maturity that the President

Movie Review : Fameizone.sg

Enjoyable drama with likeable characters and some impressively directed musical numbers, but the film’s decision to focus on too many characters means that it spreads itself too thin and lacks emotional depth as a result. Directed by choreographer Kevin Tancharoen (making his feature debut), Fame is a 2009 reinvention of Alan Parker’s series-spawning 1980 hit. The plot follows a group of around ten talented actors, singers, dancers and musicians as they navigate their way through four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts.

drawing by zenandgroove If you liked Canadian rap legend Jesse Dangerously on the Kupek track I linked a couple weeks back , you should definitely give his records — Inter Alia and Verba Volant — a try. I listened to both of them countless times on the train between Philly and New Jersey, and some of JD’s better lines are permanently burned into my brainstuff. If you want to be really, really impressed, check him out when he does that fast shit at the end of the first verse of Outfox’d (from Inter Alia).

(Above: Booker T. Jones performs “Time Is Tight” in Dublin earlier this year.) By Joel Francis Soul legend Booker T. Jones’ concert Sunday night at Knucklehead’s was the tale of two shows. The first half of Jones’ two-hour set was solid, if unspectacular and marred by sound and equipment issues. After a 20-minute recess to fix the technical problems, the band returned rejuvenated and tore through powerful readings from the MGs catalog.

The HORRORS of bad hair… Can I just say that there has been so much good music come out in the last few months that I can barely keep up. And the past 2 weeks I’ve bought a TON of new music. I can’t seem to stop downloading and I have bought several really good albums and numerous singles. So let’s get to it, shall we? Goodbye summer! Hello to falling leaves, cooler temperatures and Halloween sights & sounds… The Horrors – “Whole New Way” (alternative rock) With a distinct 80’s alternative throwback sound, this track is bouncy and neat.

Not too much Hip Hop in the top 10 this week. Jay Z is the only one representing in the top 10 and continues to sell a lot of of albums.   The other Hip-Hop from last week suffered from some serious drops in sales. We have a new number one this week.   Pearl Jam enters the countdown with their new album Backspacer .   They are followed by Jay-Z who drops a spot on the countdown.   The Blueprint 3 sells 130,000 copies and claims the number two spot.

Matt Giraud has been in LA writing and working in the studio with Daniel James Pringle, who has also worked with Allison Iraheta on her album and who has co-written songs for Disney-types Vanessa Hudgens, Aly & AJ and Jordan Pruitt. Not Matt’s sound, but he does love him some Disney! Anyway, Matt G and Vitamin D, as they are known in the rap world (lol), recorded a little rap in the studio and posted it on YouTube (too long for a BubbleTweet). Matt is cool like a peppermint patty and wants to hit it like a baseball batty (crack!).

In the convertible Ghia. Top down. Tunes blasting. Love the Ripple life . . . Kyle Andrews – Real Blasty First CD popped into the player with a touch of trepidation, not being a fan of much of the “oh so coy” indie-pop crafted by young men locked in their rooms with a keyboard and a copy of ProTools. Think something like Bright Eyes and I’ll drift off quicker than a fresh drip of Michael Jackson’s propofol. Imagine my surprise then, when the initial hesitant, fully quirky synthesized keyboard stuttered across my speakers, sounding bright and boppy and fun.

By Frank Clayton If the whole world took note of the culture that takes place at reggae festivals there surely would not be wars, stress levels would diminish and the main focus of everyday life would be mutual respect. Walking into a reggae festival is like walking in to a mysterious land where everyone is happy to see you, and no good deed is done without a kind word in return. Labor Day weekend, Monterey Fairgrounds was this mysterious land.

I didn’t quite like the vocals in Sajna (which I believe is done by Vince Vaughn, he is supposed to have recorded a song for the movie), mainly due to the corny lyrics, but Rahman’s mesmerizing arrangement is more than enough to have you hooked to the track. The big surprise comes in the next track. How often do you get to hear Tamil song playing in a Hollywood soundtrack? Well here is one for you, Rahman crooning a chirpy Kuru Kuru set to a mildly folksy orchestration.

Couples Retreat – Wordlessly mind-bogglingIf A.R. Rahman had proved off his extraordinary adeptness on Indian touch with ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, he strikes marvelously with complete Hollywood-fangled melodies. The tunes are stunningly melodic and indeed aptly sound in accordance with film’s title ‘Couples Retreat’. The original soundtrack of ‘Couples Retreat’ has 15 melodies with uniquely spelled attributes. SAJNA… SAJNA ReJust heed to the fortepianos and mild-strike of chord with crystal-chimes accompanying them.
