See, for centuries, scientists didn’t understand why humans age.  Even with the advent of modern technology, scientists were still in the dark about what causes a cell to age.  Theoretically, the human DNA has everything within itself to replicate perfectly (without any signs of aging) every time.  So finally, with very recent advances in the field of genetics, we know now why we age.

 

The Process of Aging

 

Picture holding a stick with a piece of string wrapped around the stick in an upward spiral 52 times.  The stick would represent the human DNA and the string represents Telomere, which acts like a knot to hold the DNA molecule together. 

 

Every time a human cell divides, the string unravels once.  When the string unravels 52 times, the whole DNA molecule falls apart and dies.  This is called the Hayflick limit.
