Printemps de Bourges 1987: Jerry-Lee Lewis et d'autres

JERRY LEE LEWIS, singer-songwriter, musician, pianist performs April 23, 1987 in Bourges, central France, during the 10th Bourges' Spring Festival.

FERRIDAY — Frankie Jean Lewis Terrell, the sister of rock-and-roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis, died suddenly on Sunday. She was 71.

Terrell was a well-known personality in Ferriday and to her brother’s fans from around the world who traveled to the Jerry Lee Lewis Family Museum, which she owned and operated in her home on Louisiana Avenue. Her family also has a drive-thru liquor barn and convenience store beside the home.

The following statement was is posted on Jerry Lee Lewis’ Facebook page:

“Jerry Lee and I ask for prayers and understanding as we mourn the sudden death of Jerry Lee’s loving sister Frankie Jean Lewis Terrell. May God grant us strength as we go through this... we love you all. And may God be with her husband, Marion, and their daughters Mamie Gale, Melinda, Marion Jean and son Wayne. And a special prayers also for Linda Gail and Eddie and their children, and our son Lee, as he is our strength, and Lori, Tiffany and Phoebe… we love you all. Jerry Lee & Judith Lewis”

Message from Jerry's sister Frankie Jean to all Jerry Lee Lewis fans Jerry's sister Frankie Jean Lewis Terrell is running The Lewis Museum in Jerry's birth place Ferriday, Louisiana. The museum has a unique collection of pictures and memorabilia that can only be found there. Frankie asked us to help her generate donations to help her pay the taxes and keep this unique museum running. Any donation is more than welcome. Donations can be sent to: The Lewis Museum 712 Louisiana Avenue Ferriday, LA 71334 USA If you would like her to write back to you, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Museum puts on the 'freak show' FERRIDAY, La. — An Abba CD croons "Dancing Queen" as Frankie Jean Lewis Terrell reclines dreamily on a plastic chair inside the convenience store she owns in Ferriday, La. She ignores the stale smell of beer and gestures frantically behind her, to the Lewis Family Museum. "What do you do with a white elephant?" Terrell wants to know. A lopsided grin spreads across her face. "You put it on display and have a freak show." Terrell knows her fair share about freak shows. She's the caretaker of the Lewis Family Museum, a maverick stepchild to the official Southern shrine of Graceland — something certain to irk its namesake Jerry Lee Lewis, who outlived, but never outsold, Elvis Presley. With her crooked smile, pale eyes and wild hair, Terrell looks disarmingly similar to her famously rough brother, '50s rocker Lewis. She closes her mouth and narrows her eyes into hyphen-sized slits. "The Lewis Family Museum is the biggest freak show there is," Terrell, 66, preaches. In Ferriday, a Concordia Parish town of about 4,000 some 13 miles west of the Mississippi River, few people would disagree with Terrell's pronouncement that the museum is a temple to the weird. In its unapologetic display of one famous family's demons, the Lewis Family Museum transforms the painful into the hilariously familiar. Jerry Lee Lewis, who lives behind graffiti-covered walls on a ranch in Nesbit, Miss., turned 70 in September. In 2005 he won a Grammy for lifetime achievement. His star has waned, but the music hasn't died. Lewis' next CD, "The Pilgrim," slated for release later this year, likely will be his last. Twenty-two guest artists, including B.B. King, Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr and Eric Clapton, recorded with the Killer. The Lewis Family Museum affirms his ever-so-humble beginnings. Alcohol, drugs and lawlessness set the backdrop to the story of a poor sharecropper's son, Lewis, turned child prodigy near rock 'n' roll's advent. They chronicle a crooner's rise from the violent, booze-soaked nightclubs of Natchez, Miss., to his immortalization in the bars of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Great Balls of Fire." If sin had a soundtrack, it would sound very much like the wail of Jerry Lee Lewis' piano absorbing rage, which is why Terrell also believes people travel from all corners of the world — France, Japan, Australia — to walk across the floors of Lewis family history. "I guess people like that are a curiosity to all of us," says Joan Svoboda, who visited from Nebraska. "How come people visiting Memphis drive by Graceland?" Unlike Graceland, the Ferriday museum has few rules. Visitors may roam freely, from room to room. They may take photographs and touch most everything, except the pianos. One, its keys yellowed and jammed, is the first Jerry Lee Lewis ever pounded, and it stands in a bedroom, its lid covered with framed family photographs. Terrell says that ghosts of the living haunt this place, but the dead don't stick around. She keeps glass bottles of whiskey atop a black baby grand piano in the sitting room, a refusal to sugarcoat her brother's dangerous climb to stardom. "Once you come see this house and take it all in, you're never the same once you leave," says Terrell, who speaks with the frenetic pace of a street preacher. She confesses to curling up on her brother's bed at night, closing her eyes and pretending that time is capable of stopping and rewinding. She can listen to the past anytime she wants. She can replay it like a record. "At night when I close my eyes, I can hear Jerry playing the piano," Terrell says. She e-mails her brother at least once a week, through her sister, musician Linda Gail Lewis. Ferriday's other famous former residents, Linda Gail Lewis, Jimmy Lee Swaggart and Mickey Gilley, all enjoy corners of memorial in Terrell's museum, in the family home. Visitors may prowl the bedroom of Linda Gail Lewis, touch her makeup brushes (left on a nightstand) or let their fingers waltz across her dresses. The museum pays little attention to Jerry Lee's marriage to his second cousin, Myra Gale, when she was 13. The scandal sank Lewis' career at a time when some thought he would surpass Presley in popularity. "You don't get inducted into this hall of fame," Terrell cackles. "You get indicted." The infamous marriage license of Lewis and Myra Gale hangs on a faux-wood paneled wall. Visitors may think they've fallen through a portal to the 1950s. The oven in the kitchen holds shellacked bread baked decades ago on a Christmas morning by the now-deceased matriarch Mamie Lewis, who on Sept. 29, 1935, birthed the Killer on a four-poster bed exhibited in the home. The highchair of the man whose music helped define rock sits in the corner. His tattered baby clothes string a fine line above a bed. Their presence proclaims that even Jerry Lee Lewis had to start somewhere. "It's strange how life goes on in other places and it just stops here," Terrell says sadly. "It's incredibly strange," she repeats. Terrell says the home has always been a museum, but she officially started giving tours in 1960, lately adding a small admission fee because of rising costs. Her convenience store pays the taxes and utilities. A chronic pack rat, she could wallpaper three rooms with the letters she has saved since the age of 11. She claims to have started the museum when she was 6 because she knew "Jerry Lee was special." Neighbors came from miles to hear him play the piano, and Terrell didn't want anyone to forget the music. That's why she stayed on in Ferriday, a dust-laced Louisiana delta town about 100 miles north of Baton Rouge. "It's good to never change an address," Terrell says. "Jerry Lee can come back and see his baby shoes." She keeps a house in Ferriday, but sleeps in the museum at night. She eats all her meals in its kitchen. Even if she tried to leave, she says she thinks the house would drag her back. The house isn't officially haunted, but Terrell believes that memories, all great and terrible, have enchanted its rooms. After soaking up the Lewis saga — similar to a "Dallas" rerun minus the millionaires — museum visitors may sit with Terrell in her convenience store and drink something a Lewis would drink — usually whiskey, she says. Fans enter for free. Critics have to pay a dollar and only get to see one room. That's Terrell's rule.

Sable Starr lost her virginity at age 12 to Spirit guitarist Randy California.

For a time, she was involved with Iggy Pop, who glorified their (Johnny Thunders' and her) relationship in his 1996 song “Look Away.”

“I slept with Sable when she was 13 / Her parents were too rich to do anything / She rocked her way around L.A. / ‘Til a New York Doll carried her away…”

Johnny Thunders, Sable Starr & Iggy Pop in NYC, 1977

Iggy Pop • Look Away

This ballad from Iggy Pop's 1996 album, Naughty Little Doggie,” is profound.

It's about Johnny Thunders, doomed lead guitarist for the New York Dolls, and The Heartbreakers, and Iggy's mutual girlfriend1970s super-groupie, Sable Starr.

The lyrics are laced with regret.

Iggy is not taking blame for Thunders and Starr, but doesn’t deny his complicity.

it's like this:

“Now Thunder and me did not part friends
What we did once I wouldn’t do again
So he stayed with the pure dream and followed the moon

‘Til the drugs in his body made his mind a cartoon

Look away Look away

So a few years later Thunder died broke
Sable had a baby back at her folks
Me I went straight and serious too

There wasn’t much else that I could do

Look away Look away

So now that I’m straight I’m settled too
I eat and I sleep and I work like you
I got lots of feelings but I hold them down
That’s a way I cope with this shitty town

Look away Look away”

I slept wlth Sable when she was 13
Her parents were too rich to do anything
She rocked her way around L.A
'Til a New York doll carried her away

Look away Look away

Now he was blond and she was dark
They called him Thunder 'cause he had the spark
The dream he dreamed was straight and pure
But the confusion of life was gonna get him for sure

Now he was blond and she was dark They called him thunder 'cause he had the spark The dream he dreamed was straight and pure But the confusion of life was gonna get him for sure Look away look away They shared their clothes and their cowboy boots Left them all over the floor while they dyed their roots They live the dream and they went non-stop They did' ok 'til the band broke up Look away look away look away look away Unfortunately the needle broke Their rock and roll love like a bicycle spoke I found her in a back street with her looks half gone She was selling something that I was on Look away look away

JIMMY PAGE & LORI MATTIX

a little bit bout Lori: Lori Maddox (born 1958) is an ex-girlfriend of Jimmy Page. her fame derived largely from her association with Page, as well as friendships with other Los Angeles notables, including Sable Starr. Lori Maddox was part of the wild Hollywood teenage groupie scene in the early 1970s. she reportedly lost her virginity at age 13 to David Bowie and Angie Bowie. one of her best friends was Sable Starr, who was the unofficial queen of the scene at the time. Jimmy and Lori began a torrid affair, but they had to keep their relationship a secret from the public since Lori was underage and Jimmy was at risk of being arrested. Jimmy was still seeing Pamela des Barres (his then girlfriend and also a very famous groupie) and also other women, and the relationship with Pamela reached a dramatic end when Jimmy took Pamela to a Led Zeppelin party but he left the party with Lori. Pamela was said to be very bitter about being dumped by Jimmy, and Pamela considered Lori an "enemy" of hers for years. Lori and Jimmy were said to be very much in love and they carried on a relationship for the next year and a half. Lori often traveled with Led Zeppelin on tour, but that didn't stop Jimmy from having affairs with other women. Jimmy eventually began dating Bebe Buell and he dumped Lori. a humiliated Lori tried to get back together with Jimmy, but he continually snubbed her. Lori was reportedly devastated and people who know her say she's never really recovered. although Jimmy and Lori briefly got back together in the early '80s, they never went back to the passionate love affair they had when she was a teenager. After drifting out of the groupie scene, Lori held a series of low-paying jobs. she currently works as a buyer and manager at a fashion boutique in Los Angeles. Lori occasionally gives interviews where she talks about her groupie days (especially her relationship with Jimmy Page), but for the most part, she has stayed out of the public eye.

Dancing Days lyrics:

dancing days are here again as the summer evenings grow. i got my flower, i got my power, i got a woman who knows. i said it's alright. you know it's alright. i guess it's all in my heart. you'll be my only, my one and only. is that the way it should start? crazy ways are evident, in the way that you're wearing your clothes. sippin' booze is precedent as the evening starts to glow. i said it's alright. you know it's alright. i guess it's all in my heart. you'll be my only, my one and only. is that the way it should start? i told your mamma i'd get you home but i didn't tell her i had no car. i saw a lion he was standing alone with a tadpole in a jar. i said it's alright. you know it's alright. i guess it's all in my heart. you'll be my only, my one and only. is that the way it should start? dancing days are here again as the summer evening grows. you are my flower, you are my power, you are my woman who knows.

Jerry Lee Lewis - The Death of the Killer's Wife

READ The Strange, Mysterious Death of Mrs. Jerry Lee Lewis

Geraldo Rivera examines the controversial circumstances surrounding the overdose death of Shawn Stephens Lewis, wife number five of rock and roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis. ·

In February 1981 Jerry Lee had met Shawn Stephens, a 23-year-old petite blonde cocktail waitress at the Hyatt Hotel, in Dearborn, Michigan. He later fell in love with her and they married on June 7, 1983. Just 77 days later she was discovered dead in bed at his ranch in Nesbit. She was found to have methadone in her system at 10 times the normal dose. n 1984, fifth wife, Shawn Michelle Stephens Lewis, died of an accidental drug overdose, and was the subject of some investigative reporting by Richard Ben Cramer that implied Jerry was some kind of rock & roll Bluebeard, more perpetrator than grieving widower. The dark rumors and cruel jokes about Jerry have never stopped. The night before, Jerry Lee Lewis’ 5th wife died, she made a phone call to her Mom. She told her that she was thinking of leaving the rock and roll pioneer, but that he wouldn’t let her. Then, she made a second call — this one to the sister of her high-school sweetheart, making plans for the sister

While reviewing my VideoMatch recordings I found this one where Tracy Lords is one of the girls in a bikini that holds the raund number in a sexy female box fight. Perfect body, awesome natural tits and re-pendeja, for those who do not know her here is what Wikipedia says of her: Nora Louise Kuzma, better known as Traci Lords (name of the character played by Katharine Hepburn in Philadelphia Stories) (Steubenville, Ohio, May 7, 1968), is an American actress who rose to fame by filming virtually all of his pornographic production as a minor. This generated one of the biggest judicial scandals in the history of pornographic cinema. Traci Lords entered the world of sexual production presenting false certificates to producers. It did not take long to go from being a secondary actress to a star. During the years of video fever, he starred in dozens of porn movies, along with actresses like Ginger Lynn, or actors such as John Stagliano and Paul Thomas. Although he did not work more than a couple of years in the production of explicit sex movies, his filmography is more than abundant. In 1986, when Traci turned eighteen and reached the age of majority, the press revealed that he had acted in front of the cameras, in porn movies, as a minor. Immediately, the authorities began an investigation that culminated with many imprisoned producers, and with almost all the films starring Traci being withdrawn from the market. At the time of the scandal, Traci was in France, filming what would be his latest pornographic film: Traci I Love You. This tape is the only pornographic movie that can be bought legally in the United States, which reported big profits for Lords, since she was also the owner of the distribution rights. After filming Traci I Love You, the famous director and producer of exploitation films, Roger Corman got in touch with her, and proposed to Traci a leading role in the remake of the movie Not of this Earth. Traci agreed, since it was what she was hoping to achieve with her career: to leave the pornographic circuit, although she objected to the inclusion of scenes where she had to get naked, no doubt because it reminded her too much of the days she tried to leave behind.

Lyrics

Now he was blond and she was dark

They called him thunder 'cause he had the spark

The dream he dreamed was straight and pure

But the confusion of life was gonna get him for sure

Look away look away

They shared their clothes and their cowboy boots

Left them all over the floor while they dyed their roots

They live the dream and they went non-stop

They did' ok 'til the band broke up

Look away look away look away look away

Unfortunately the needle broke

Their rock and roll love like a bicycle spoke

I found her in a back street with her looks half gone

She was selling something that I was on

Look away look away

Now thunder and me did not part friends

What we did once I wouldn't do again

So he stayed with the pure dream and followed the moon

Jerry Lee Lewis Documentary

Jerry Lee Lewis - arrogant, opinionated & unquestionably the Real Deal. His music - uncompromising, self-assured & rooted deep in the sounds & culture of the Southern States of the USA. His personal life - full of both success & excess, in equal measure. All set alight by some of that Old Time Religion. This is a fine documentary about the last of the Giants of Rock & Roll. A one-off. The Killer. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. No question.

She appeared on the cover of Moon's Two Sides of the Moon. The couple were Paul McCartney's guests at a film preview of The Buddy Holly Story on the evening of 6 September 1978.[2] After dining with Paul and Linda McCartney, Walter-Lax and Moon returned to their flat, where he died of an overdose of Clomethiazole (Heminevrin), a medication he was taking as part of a program to wean him off alcohol. She was distraught and inconsolable at his death, and was heavily sedated during the funeral service, reportedly collapsing at the Garden of Remembrance.[1] She said later that it was her understanding that Moon was going to propose to her on the day of his death.
Walter-Lax began dating British television actor Gareth Hunt. They married in the early 1980s and had a son, Oliver. She has lived with her son in Stockholm since her divorce from Hunt.

Keith's Ladies

In his 32 years, Keith Moon probably slept with a whole stable of groupies and other random chicks. But he did manage to carry out at least two serious relationships. This page is dedicated to Keith's main squeezes. I've typed up little bios of each for you to enjoy.

Kim Kerrigan

It was my managers' idea to keep the marriage a secret . . . at the time, I didn't care, I just wanted to marry Kim, but my managers and publicist did care about what I did.

Maryse Elizabeth Patricia was born on December 30, 1948 in Leicester, England; she was an only child until age sixteen. At the age of three months Patsy, as she was called in her early years, moved with her parents to Malaysia, where her father maintained a management position on a rubber and coconut plantation. When Patsy was seven the family returned to England for two years, then picked up again to move to east Africa. Four years later the Kerrigans once again returned to England, and sent their daughter to an Irish convent to be schooled. By the end of 1963 Patsy had returned home and had settled on hairdressing as her career of choice. She was fifteen at the time. While working as a trainee at a salon, a client told Patsy that she could go far as a model. So Patsy began attending a charm school/modeling agency called the Dawn Academy. Immediately the head of the academy noted a resemblence between Patsy and famous British model Patti Boyd (future Mrs. George Harrison, and later, Mrs. Eric Clapton), both in appearance and name. So Patsy began calling herself Kim.

In early 1965 Keith and Kim met after one of The Who's shows at the Disc A Go Go in Bournemouth. Soon after the two were exchanging phone calls and soon after that they were "seeing" each other. Kim's parents were less than thrilled with their daughter's new boyfriend and hoped the relationship was just a phase. And maybe it would have been "just a phase", if Kim hadn't turned up pregnant in late 1965.

This being the 1960s, it was still customary for guys to marry the girls they impregnated. Usually, anyway. But Kim's mother suggested her daughter have an abortion instead. Kim refused, and moved into the Moon family's home until she and Keith were married on March 17, 1966. Daughter Amanda Jane (Mandy) was born on July 12.

From the start Keith was a bit of a fascist towards Kim. He made her give up modeling and forbade her from talking to other men. Jealous much? To add hypocrisy to injury, Keith screwed other girls all the time, sometimes in Kim's own home. On top of all that, Keith was a violent drunk, and turned that violence onto his wife. As you can imagine, this didn't lead to the happiest of marriages. Kim suffered through seven years with Keith before she finally left in 1973, taking Mandy with her. The divorce was finalized in 1975.

On October 9, 1978 Kim married Ian McLagan, formerly of The Faces. They didn't have any children together. The couple lived in Los Angeles, California until 1994, when they moved to Austin, Texas. Kim ran a skin care salon on Highway 71. Sadly, Kim died on August 2, 2006 in a car accident in Texas.

Annette Walter-Lax

I've finally met a woman who loves everything I do and and claps in all the right places.

Keith's second serious relationship was with Annette Walter-Lax. She was born in (approximately) 1956, making her ten years younger than Keith and a teenager when they began dating. I can't seem to find much information on Annette before she met Keith, so I'll just say she's Swedish, was born a brunette, and was a model when they met. Anyway, the two met in the summer of 1974, after a photographer asked Annette if she wanted to meet a "real drummer". Annette assumed that the meeting was a one-off, and didn't plan on seeing Keith again. However, while Annette was on a date with another man at a nightclub, she ran into Keith again. This time he was drunk and causing his usual mayhem in the club, but he took a minute to greet her. Annette and her date sat together at a table; shortly after she went to the bathroom. Her date was gone when she returned, and Keith had taken his place. The two were a couple by the end of that week, and shortly after began living together.

Annette wasn't much of a rock music fan, and had only heard of The Who in passing. So it came as a complete surprise when she realized that Keith was an alcoholic, and that everyday life with him involved a lot of booze and destruction. The same possessiveness Keith had displayed with Kim made a reappearance with Annette as well. He also forced Annette to give up her modeling career. Meanwhile, Keith continued bedding groupies, much to Annette's displeasure. At least he managed to hold off on the physical abuse this time around.

In 1975 Keith moved to Los Angeles and bought a house in Malibu; Annette went with him. They spent three turbulent years in California before returning to England. Once in London, the couple bought Harry Nilsson's flat at 12 Curzon Place. Around this time Keith began telling everyone that he and Annette were going to be married, but there was never any official engagement.

When Keith died in his sleep on September 7, 1978 Annette was the one to discover it. Understandably, she was distraught and inconsolable at Keith's untimely demise. She was heavily sedated during Keith's funeral service and reportedly collapsed at the Garden of Rememberance.

Eventually, though, Annette managed to "get over" Keith, so to speak. She began dating British television actor Gareth Hunt. They were married in the early '80s and had a son, Oliver, together. In 1981 Annette sold the story of hers and Keith's four- year relationship to a British tabloid. The Moon family was pissed about Annette's kissing-and-telling, but in Annette's own words "they made me an offer I couldn't refuse".

Nowadays Annette lives with her son in Stockholm, Sweden, divorced from her husband and without any permanent scars from her relationship with Keith.

Trivia

Basically, a page of well known, and little known, facts about my favorite drummer. It's totally different from the Biography page, I swear.

· Keith almost became the drummer for legendary band Led Zeppelin. He and John Entwistle were on the outs with the rest of The Who, and Jimmy Page approached the two with the idea of joining his imagined band, The New Yardbirds. Keith and John toyed around with the idea for awhile, but ultimately they stuck with The Who. But, legend has it that Keith is the one who came up with the name Led Zeppelin, when he told Jimmy that the new band would go over "like a lead balloon".

· He was the youngest member of The Who, and also the last to join.

· Keith and Ringo Starr were pretty much BFFs. The two liked to go drinking together, and · Keith was like an uncle to Ringo's kids. In fact, Keith was Zak Starkey's godfather, and Zak says it was Keith, not his own father, who introduced him to the drums.

· On that same note, Zak drums for The Who these days. So basically, Keith trained his own replacement, about 30 years before the fact.

· A creepy coincidence: Keith died in the same apartment that Mama Cass Elliot had died in four years earlier.

· Once, Keith filled his drums entirely with water and used them as tanks for goldfish, actually playing them in concert. I'd hate to be those fish.

· Keith (alledgedly) sang backup vocals on The Beatles' single "All You Need Is Love", meaning he was present during the Our World satellite broadcast. I've watched the video upwards from twenty times, and I've never seen him, but Ringo claims that Keith was sitting next to him throughout the performance.

· Keith's house was called Tara, after the house in Gone with the Wind.

· In 1966, The Who met The Beatles for the first time. At one point during the party or dinner or whatever the two bands were attending, Keith wandered to The Beatles table and asked if he could join them. They said sure, but Keith stayed standing and asked again if he could join them. Finally, Ringo told Keith they already had a drummer.

· On his last night alive, Keith went to a party held by Paul McCartney.

· The drums on the Jeff Beck song "Beck's Bolero" were played by Keith. On the single, the drums were credited to "You Know Who".

· Keith loved surf music (groups like the Beach Boys and Jan & Dean) and his favorite song, according to people who knew him well, was "Don't Worry Baby", by the Beach Boys.

· Before picking up on any musical instrument, Keith found a hobby in boxing.

· John Bonham and Keith shared a drum solo during Led Zeppelin's June 23, 1977 show in Los Angeles. The two drummers really admired one another.

· Keith was given a producers credit for the violin solo on "Baba O'Riley".

· The Muppets character Animal was inspired by Keith's vibrant public image. Animal's motto? "Drums. Women. Food."

· During a London Monkees concert, Keith sat in the front row and chanted "We want The Who," much to the annoyance of the teenybopper fans around him.
