Details from Slated.For Reid, though, punk was merely the chance to get cultural protest into the mainstream. “All I've ever done is re-adapt my work from the late 60s and early 70s into different contexts,” he says. “Continuing with the same themes and messages that have been fought over for the last 2,000 years, and I don't think they will ever go away.”Reid’s association with Malcolm McLaren began when they staged a student protest together in 1968, organizing a sit-in at Croydon Art College. Two years later, he was still protesting, co-founding the Suburban Press and flooding London with agitprop like “Save Petrol - Burn Cars” and “This Store Welcomes Shoplifters”. The perfect man, then, to graphically define The Sex Pistols when McLaren suggested it in the mid-70s. Polanski and the Bounty of Childhood Sex
Despite all his very good films (and I believe they are very good but not exceptional) Polanski may perhaps be and certainly deserves to be best remembered for a passing moment, a few hours of sex with young what’s her name, some hot Lolita. That moment should be memorialized because Polanski’s persecution is as important in cultural history as the persecution of Jean Calas. My only concern is: Will Polanski find his Voltaire?
However, the argument that Polanski should be given a pass because he is a great artist is obviously fallacious. If he had perpetrated a real crime, such as murder, there would not be the least doubt that he should be punished. We deplore Gesualdo’s good fortune. We are offended at preferential treatment for celebrities even when it comes to minor infractions because that seems to elevate them to the status of a kind of nobility.
No: One’s standing as an artist is no reason to escape punishment. There may, of course, be a motive behind this argument, however tenuous either the argument itself or the reasoning behind the motive may be. The hidden thought may be that certain artists, as legislators for our mores, should be considered as special cases not because their persons are somehow elevated above the rest of us, but because their actions have a revelatory or pedagogic value that is beneficial to mankind. This thought is not to be dismissed without reflection, but I won’t take it up here. But, and this is the defensible point, Polanski’s defenders probably believe that his actions did not in fact constitute a crime, or at the very least no crime more serious than jaywalking. To come right out and say so, however, would be politically unwise and would probably not help Polanski in his actual predicament. This, I believe, is valid. Furthermore, I think it needs to be stated bluntly, so I’ll rush in where Hollywood fears to tread. On balance, I don’t think what I say will have an effect of Polanski’s case one way or the other. And, in a wider perspective, being honest and aggressive about the fraud that has been perpetrated on the world in the name of child abuse will have better effects than continued dithering. Others may be worried about remaining eligible for an Oscar, but I, like Eminem, don’t give a fuck.

So-called child molestation, which is actually just an abusive term for childhood sex is not a crime. The reason is simple. The act can be divided into two parts potentially. One is the sex, the other is physical (or excessive psychological – a vague and dubious concept) coercion. It is true that physical coercion can be criminal especially if it involves inflicting physical pain. However, coercion by itself is indifferent to the age of the victim. Coercing anyone to do anything against their will is at the very least immoral. Doing so at the point of a gun is often criminal (Coercing the perpetrator of a holdup to desist at the point of a gun is not considered criminal, but coercing a soldier into battle at the point of a gun may be considered criminal). However, proponents of so-called child molestation make clear that coercion is irrelevant to the supposed criminality of the act since even consensual sex with children is criminalized.

PUNK magazine #20 Sid Vicious & Nancy Iggy & Stooges - eBay
This is a new issue of PUNK, the original legendary 1970s 'zine. This issue features a cover story about Sid & Nancy by Eileen Polk, which features her photos of Sid & Nancy, Sid's concert at Max's Kansas City (backed by Mick Jones of The Clash, Arthur Kane of the New York Dolls and Jerry Nolan of the Heartbreakers), also there are two exclusive, never-before-published photos of Jerry Only with The Misfits from 1979 (one with Danzig). There is also a photo of Michelle Robison (Sid died at her apartment), and a pic of Sid with Richard Hell and Johnny Thunders backstage at a Blondie concert.
There's also an interview with Ron Asheton of The Stooges, where he's talking about their new tour and record. He also disses the "new" punk rock and reveals what he does in his spare time.
There are also ten pages of exclusive photos by Danny Fields, including five pages of live Stooges pics from 1973 (the Max's show), which show Iggy in his prime. There are also never-before-published pics of the Ramones, as well as a photo of Patti Smith with Bob Dylan and photos of Television (with and without Richard Hell).
There's also an interview with Jayne County where she disses Bowie and talks at length about her role as the first transpunk. There are some great pics of her from the 1970s.
There's some coverage of new bands as well, prominently an exclusive interview (with exclusive pics) of the Stalkers, the hottest band in New York City. There's also an interview with The Rats (not the KFC rats, this is the NYC Rats), and No Truth Lies from Florida. There's also a look at the Brooklyn DIY scene by Pat Byrnes, director of the "Saving CBGB" film doc.

A book containing PUNK magazine material is about to be published by Harper/Collins IT Books, so expect the value of all of these magazines to increase exponentially.These issues have been kept in a bookcase since 1980, when PUNK went out of business, and have never been opened. They are being offered for sale now to help pay for the production expenses for the upcoming book: PUNK #1: This copy of PUNK #1 displays in near-perfect registration, unlike 90% of the PUNK #1 issues. Most copies of PUNK #1 have bad registration and/or oddball colors. An issue of PUNK #1 in this kind of condition is difficult to find. PUNK #2: This copy of PUNK #2 has none of the blue ink, nor the rips and tears on the sides of the issue, which were the results of bad distribution and printing. You will rarely find a copy of PUNK #2 in this kind of condition. PUNK #3: This issue, featuring The Ramones, is one of the most sought-after of all PUNK back issues. Getting one in mint condition? Once they do? You will find that you have one of the coolest collectibles of all time! PUNK #16: DiscoManiac: This was he best-selling issue of PUNK magazine ever. But it's the interview with Sid & Nancy, which inspired the film of he same name, that makes you think you should buy this issue.
