Right from the beginning Michael Jackson's rollercoaster existence captivated the world.

He was a musical genius. But he lived a life of extremes. More often than not it was his extravagant and controversial lifestyle that took centre stage. Accusations of child abuse and a spectacular and bruising criminal trial badly tarnished his image.

Whatever your opinion of the scandal, he remained an icon. And there by his side, in the good times and bad, was psychic Uri Geller.

Geller found fame bending spoons. But he was also the keeper of Michael Jackson's secrets. For the first time he opens his vault of home videos and gives us a rare and personal insight into Michael Jackson's private world.

The best of New Zealand and international current affairs - 20/20 - presented by Miriama Kamo with reporters Sonya Wilson, Beth Roche and Hugh Hughes.

The Michael Jackson crystal-encrusted white glove which sold in Melbourne on Sunday for $57,600 is off to Las Vegas to join a Sid Vicious necklace and an Elvis Presley .357 magnum.

Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel and Casino curator Warwick Stone has told ABC Radio the glove has great provenance.

"Michael Jackson gave it to someone in public in Australia and most collectors of Michael Jackson memorabilia knew about this glove," he said.

"I've got the chain that used to hang around Sid Vicious's neck I've got one of Elvis's .357 magnums which he used to shoot TVs with - he used to shoot Robert Goulet in the TV; he didn't like Robert Goulet."

Mr Stone also has dark glasses that belonged to singer Roy Orbison.

On a visit to Sydney in 1996, Jackson attended the Australian premiere of the film Ghosts, in which he had the starring role.

Music journalist Peter Holmes and his friend Bill Hibble, seated close to Jackson's entourage, were among the few who laughed at the film's jokes.

They were rewarded with the bejewelled glove which Jackson flung in their direction.

Bonhams and Goodman spokeswoman Charlotte Stanes said Mr Stone was joined by three overseas collectors and two local bidders for the glove - the first to be auctioned since Jackson's death on June 25.

"We are very happy with the result," Ms Stanes said.

Mr Stone says three more Jackson gloves are likely to come on to the market in the United States later this year.

"I think I got the bargain," he said.
