Dirty Dancing film star Patrick Swayze has died aged 57, his publicist says.
Annett Wolf said that the US actor, who had been battling pancreatic cancer for nearly two years, died with family at his side on Monday.
Swayze was diagnosed with advanced stage four pancreatic cancer in January last year.
The actor had been starring in US TV show The Beast since being diagnosed with the disease. He had also planned to write a memoir with his wife.

Actress Jennifer Grey"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," said a statement by Annett Wolf quoted by the Associated Press.
No other details were given.
Jennifer Grey, who co-starred with Swayze in Dirty Dancing, said in a statement: "Patrick was a rare and beautiful combination of raw masculinity and amazing grace. Gorgeous and strong, he was a real cowboy with a tender heart.
"He was fearless and insisted on always doing his own stunts, so it was not surprising to me that the war he waged on his cancer was so courageous and dignified."
He was always uncomfortable with the Hollywood sex symbol tagRob Lowe, who played in a number of films with Swayze, said: "Patrick lived a thousand lifetimes in one lifetime. He was an expert dancer, he wrote hit songs, he starred in hit movies, he was an amazing horseman.
"But the thing I will remember him most for was his amazing love affair with his wife Lisa."
Demi Moore has also paid tribute to her co-star in the hit film Ghost, saying: "Patrick you are loved by so many and your light will forever shine in all of our lives."
She added: "I love and will miss you Patrick."
Greg Kilday, the film editor for Hollywood Reporter, said Swayze was "in the tradition of a performer like Gene Kelly, who invested dance and romance with a real masculine athletic appeal".
Swayze's dream
In January, Swayze admitted he might only have two years to live, but denied he was near death.
In a US TV interview, he admitted he was "scared" and "going through hell".
"Am I dying? Am I giving up? Am I on my death bed? Am I saying goodbye to people? No way," Swayze told TV interviewer Barbara Walters.
"I keep dreaming of a future, a future with a long and healthy life, not lived in the shadow of cancer but in the light," he said.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most virulent forms of cancer which medical experts say has a 5% five-year survival rate.

I'm fine with Kanye West being some sort of loose cannon, but I really wish he had better aim. The guy needs to pick his battles. West was on stage so fast, and with such indignation, you'd think some major form of injustice was going down. Beyonce really doesn't need anyone to defend her. Plus, she was up for eight more awards! Maybe if the night had ended with Beyonce being shut out -- she won Video Of The Year, for heaven's sake -- one could understand an extemporized moment of disbelief, or one of her colleagues giving her props from the stage. But all Kanye West managed to do was to stomp all over a 19-year-old woman's moment to be on stage and be heard.
Usually, something as branded and crass as a mainstream music-industry event tends to squash individuality and blend everything into a giant ball of gilded banality. But watching West's solipsistic outburst at the expense of Swift seemed to split the show apart at the seams. The moment revealed a gross (though not surprising) underbelly of ego, power, sexism and stupidity. But overall, the incident gave us a glimpse into something most of us already knew: that MTV and the Video Music Awards have very little to do with music. If we were tuning in to watch a spectacle, we got what we came for.

R.I.P. Jim Carroll
Back in the mid-1990s, my band played for the first time at the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle. We were playing a stage far too big for us -- long and sparse, ill-lit, hollow-sounding and very much unclaimed. We tried to spread ourselves out among the blank canvas of it all, but we felt tiny, and our songs spewed forth into the ether, misshapen.
Jim Carroll was on the same bill as us. He was tall and lithe, with a ghostly, otherworldly mien. Carroll was reading poems with no back-up band, no team, no amp to crank to up to 10. But he didn't have any problems covering the stage, reaching the corners and permeating the room. Carroll died Friday at age 60, but here's a moment to remember him by:

and really, it's okay to tune into bad award shows every once in while. it shows others that you're capable of empathy for their bad taste.
and that haircut you saw happens to be an Emogene. it was all the rage back in the 07s but has since been confined to 'played out' status for mo-suck-ups. I've been told that it is responsible for anywhere from five- to fifteen-extra-thousand illegal downloads per album in the Midwest alone.
