Jim Carroll - La Última Basket Ball Diaries Study Guide via lex10 and 'the perfect american'

god love lex10.  when i was trying out for the Mann Act Vol. 1 & 2 in the worst city and state to ever be divvied up by the city and state men, amidst the cold climate and colder disposition of clevelandites, i suffered some things which cannot even be told in a blog to everyone and no one in the middle of the night, unless you're in Seoul, which at this time of the night, most of you are (and in that case you can't read this anyway, so maybe i could, but no, i have that new search engine, and some other high tech...never mind)  i was suffering through the end of cleveland, and had taken ill, and on what i thought could have been my dying bed, in the only thing that makes cleveland worthwhile--the cleveland clinic, i dictated my wishes for the security and futurity of my then main-squeeze blog (which has been shut down for public consumption, serving now as one weird repository), and made arrangements with Stephen (lex10), who blogs for pcp linkdump, as well as hosting his own marvelous blog...sorry, anyway, i gave him and baikinange the keys to the ramshackle cupola that i'd called home for the last year, and to my surprise, every once in a while, one or the other of them would post something exactly like this.

it goes down as one of my favorite and sentimental favorites for all of the reasons above and below (crowley), but mainly for the fact that while hardly knowing anything about me other than what he had seen of "the perfect american" lex10 (stephen) served up some comfort food for a very uncomfortable me.  All that to be able to show you what until this day remains as one of my favorite bloggy-oriented pictures, one that upon hearing of Jim Carroll's death, I immediately remembered and am happy to present to you tonight.  R.I.P. Mr. Carroll.

p.s.   did you notice that i went two paragraphs without using any of the words: people, who, died.  it's easy

There will always be a poem
I will climb on top of it and come
In and out of time,
Cocking my head to the side slightly,
As I finish shaking, melting then
Into its body, its soft skin

hi kim,

we talked about the gene vincent thing many a time, mainly because i kept asking you for more details. glad the greatest backstage video in the world made you remember rumbling. i wish there was still rumbling. i think i may have rumbled in 1979, but it's foggy. enjoy this video from my YouTube Channel with a supercool song of yours I'd not heard before. But then again you have a very large...oeuvre.

p.s. I'll never forget the night we had the midnight meeting with Tav Falco and his freakin' out girlfriend at your lovely office in the only skid row section of the beautiful big sleazy.

cheers,... Read More
