Der Gogo-Tanz dient der Animation zum Tanzen und einer guten Partystimmung, während bei Striptease-Tänzern die sexuelle Komponente stärker im Vordergrund steht. So ist das Tanzen auf dem Tisch (Table Dance) bei Gogotänzern nicht üblich. Weiterhin abzugrenzen sind Gogo-Tänzer von Strippern in der Form, dass die Stripper zunächst angezogen die Bühne betreten und sich dann im Verlauf der Darbietung teilweise oder vollständig ausziehen. „Topless-Gogos“, die „oben ohne“ tanzen, sind bei Profi-Gogo-Tänzern oftmals verpönt. Im benachbarten deutschsprachigen Ausland ist hingegen mit einer Gogobar eher eine Tabledancebar gemeint, was häufig im kleinen Grenzverkehr bei Buchungen von Deutschen Gogos zu Irritationen führt.

Bei Gogotänzern liegt die Betonung auf dem animativen Tanzen. Es wird versucht, die laufende und in der Regel nicht vorausgewählte Musik optimal zu interpretieren. So wird bei Techno anders getanzt als zu House oder zu R ’n’ B oder zur Partymusik. Das Ziel ist, das in der Regel gemischte Publikum zum einen zum Tanzen zu animieren und die Gäste, die um die Tanzfläche herum stehen, zu unterhalten. Da viele Gogotänzer ihre tänzerischen Grundlagen in anderen Tanzgebieten wie zum Beispiel Hip Hop, Ballett, Jazzdance etc. haben, kann man nicht von einer „Tanzrichtung“ Gogodance sprechen. Vielmehr verbinden Tänzer beim Gogodance viele Tanzrichtungen miteinander. Auch akrobatische Einlagen, meist aus der Breakdanceszene, können gezeigt werden. Erotische Bewegungen gibt es indes auch bei den Gogotänzern, das Zeigen und Berühren der Brust und der Intimzone ist jedoch den Striptease- und Tabletänzern vorbehalten.

Auftrittsformen [Bearbeiten]

Gogotänzer werden heutzutage für zwei verschiedene Auftrittsformen gebucht: Es gibt die „Nur-Gogo-Auftritte“, bei denen in der Regel viermal 15 Minuten getanzt wird, was sich als Standard durchgesetzt hat. Zum Zweiten gibt es immer häufiger Showauftritte, bei denen mit einer Eingangsanimation in einem Kostüm der Abend eröffnet wird und dann zwei bis drei Runden getanzt wird. Zwischendurch werden dann noch gerne sogenannte Walkacts gemacht.

Auch das Gogotanzen unterliegt Trends. In den 1990er Jahren zu Technozeiten wurde zum einen leicht bekleidet (zum Beispiel im Bikini) getanzt. Bei den ersten Versionen der Loveparade sah man hingegen noch Plüschkostüme in allen möglichen Neonfarben. Anfang 2000 gab es viele selbstgeschneiderte Glitzerkostüme in kräftigen Farben. Heute sieht man in den Clubs mehr kurze Kleider und hochwertige Bekleidung, in den Großraumdiscotheken hingegen gerade bei männlichen Gogos zerschnittenen Hosen etc. Vereinzelt sieht man bei Themenparties die Gogos auch regelrecht kostümiert, zum Beispiel als Krankenschwester, Polizistin oder Cheerleader. Nach wie vor versuchen die Gogos bei der Kostümwahl, möglichst erotisch auszusehen, ohne dabei jedoch obszön zu wirken.

Jelavich concludes with the Berlin cabaret artists' final performances--as prisoners in the concentration camps at Westerbork and Theresienstadt.

This book gives us a sense of what the world looked like within the cabarets of Berlin and at the same time lets us see, from a historical distance, these lost performers enacting the political, sexual, and artistic issues that made their city one of the most dynamic in Europe.

Die zweite Möglichkeit zur Gogoausbildung ist der Besuch einer Gogotanzschule, wo in der Regel in Wochenendseminaren von extra geschulten Gogotrainern zum Einen die typischen Bewegungen gezeigt werden, zum Anderen aber auch im theoretischen Gogo-Unterricht beigebracht wird, wie man sich richtig bewirbt und wie man schwarze Schafe erkennt. Oftmals wird im Rahmen des Seminars noch ein Tanzauftritt in einer Discothek angeboten, um neben dem Training auch das Gefühl für das Publikum zu bekommen. Es haben sich auch mit der Zeit regional andere Systeme durchgesetzt, wo man die Möglichkeit unter bestimmten Voraussetzungen in ein Team aufgenommen zu werden und dort zu günstigen (meist Selbstkostenpreis) mehrmals in der Woche professionelles Training zu bekommen.

Heutzutage arbeitet ein Großteil der Gogos in Tänzergruppen ohne Agenturzugehörigkeit. Der Grund liegt in der Verlockung, die Agenturprovision zu sparen und somit mehr Gage zu erhalten. Der Nachteil ist jedoch, dass man sich um die ganzen Vermittlungstätigkeiten selbst kümmern muss und gerade bei zahlungsunwilligen Kunden einen enormen Zeitaufwand zum Inkasso betreiben muss. Gogos, die in Agenturen organisiert sind, haben dieses Problem nicht, verdienen in der Regel jedoch etwas weniger als „freie“ Gogos, da hier die Agenturprovision bei der Auszahlung abgezogen wird. Hierbei unterscheidet man zwischen einem Management und einer Vermittlungsagentur. Bei einem Management gilt die Höchstgrenze der Abgabe an den Manager von 20 %. Der Manager versucht, seinen Schützling so viel wie möglich mit Aufträgen zu versorgen. Rechtlich gesehen wird ein Manager vom Tänzer bezahlt. Vintage Viral Russian Disco Dispute! Hello Song (Здравствуй)
