Elvis Costello: Happy 55th birthday! | EW.comElvis Costello: Happy 55th birthday!
Elvis Costello is 55 today. I’d sing “Happy Birthday” in his honor except (a) it’s been made abundantly clear that my vocalizing around the office is not appreciated and (b) I have no idea in what genre I should perform said tribute.
During his lengthy career the man born Declan Patrick MacManus has explored a raft of musical avenues, from his soul-infused 1979 album Get Happy!! to 1993’s The Juliet Letters, a collaboration with British classical outfit The Brodsky Quartet. One year, at Britain’s Glastonbury Festival, I even saw him perform a version of the George Michael hit “I Want Your Sex” accompanied only by something he described as “the Napoleon Dynamite beatbox.” (Okay, truthfully, my memories of that entire event are somewhat hazy. But I’m fairly sure that’s what happened.) However, my favorite live Costello memory is seeing him on the tour to support his still fabulous 1986 country-rock opus King of America, and I leave you with a clip of him performing title-ish track from that album (the song is actually called “Brilliant Mistake”), together with a smidge of Dylan’s “Tangled Up In Blue.”

Lisa Marie Presley says it takes some gall for a nanny who she treated like a celebrity to turn around and sue her.
Lisa Marie tells TMZ Christine White has "self-entitlement" issues. White just sued Elvis' daughter for not getting meal breaks and allegedly being forced to work 7 days a week during her stint as a postpartum caregiver after the birth of Lisa Marie's child last October.
Lisa Marie now says she paid Christine $650 a day and she had chefs and other staff at her disposal. Lisa Marie goes on ... Christine had her own guest house on the property where she would sleep and take "many breaks."
Here's the best part: "Ms. White's self-entitlement became more and more severe as she became exposed to the various 'perks' she was given on the job.
A taste of the celebrity life can be a dangerous thing.
By the way, Lisa Marie says Christine practically tripped over herself after she was fired to hire a lawyer.

Say Chaffin Offered Spots Where Theresa Might Be, But No Body Found

GBI Special Agent James Harris told a jury at LaFayette on Tuesday that Sam Parker said his missing wife, Theresa, might be in Cancun with a Mexican Elvis.
Agent Harris said FBI agents were dispatched to the seaside Mexican resort, but could not locate the missing Walker County 911 dispatcher or a Mexican Elvis.
It was testified that Ms. Parker made a trip to Cancun with her three nieces for Spring Break 2006 and was pictured with a Mexican Elvis at that time.
Agent Harris, the lead investigator in the puzzling Parker case, completed his testimony at noon Tuesday. Parker is standing trial for murder, though Theresa's body has never been found. While he was on the stand, the jury heard an interview the former LaFayette Police sergeant gave to an Atlanta TV station, in which he said the probe was "absolutely destroying my life."
He said detectives were "trying to cut me off from all my friends" and trying to get him to "break."
He insisted he had not harmed Theresa, and he said he believed she was still alive. He said, "I never harmed her and I never would."
Parker said, "I think I know where she is, but let it go at that. If she's happy, that's fine."
He added, "Dead? I'm not even going to think that. Certain things that were put up put her certain places."
Parker said they had their impending divorce worked out - "it was a done deal." He said her disappearance had put him "in limbo."
He told the station at the interview at his home in LaFayette, "I wish she'd taken care of all this before she left." He said he had signed the divorce papers, but she had not.
Asking about proving his innocence, he said, "It's been proved as far as I'm concerned, but I'm still number one."
He said officers had gone into his home and had torn his gunsafe out of the wall and carried it off. He said they "took my unused dental floss."
He said, "My life is over. It's over. I am in life limbo. I am in job limbo."
Parker said officers put a GPS tracking device on his pickup truck, and he spotted it after it had been there a month and a half.
Agent Harris said the guns were taken to Summerville so they could be test fired for matching purposes in case Theresa's body is found.
He said there were numerous guns at the Parker home, including one under Theresa's pillow, another in a box in the living room, some in the gunsafe and some near the gunsafe.
The agent said, "Every time I went there was a new gun." He said one was spotted between the cushions of the couch.
He said despite the exhaustive investigation that Sam Parker is the only with a motive to kill Theresa.
The agent denied he had ever told anyone not to talk to Parker.
Under cross-examination, he said former LaFayette Police officer Ben Chaffin was offered a "get-out-of-jail-free card" if he could tell where Theresa's body was.
He said Chaffin offered several possibilities, but none of them panned out.
He said one pair of Ms. Parker's eyeglasses has never been found. He said all activity stopped on her cell phone and credit cards after she was last seen on March 21, 2007.
He said officers checked bus lines, air flights, hospitals and mental hospitals to no avail.
