Who're on Posterous?
christ, Posterous is Facebook
Who's on Posterous? Find out with Friend Finder.
Your friends are brilliant. They're fun and creative. They have a lot to talk about. And many of them say it on Posterous. But until now, it's been hard to find them. Today, we're fixing that by introducing Friend Finder, a new feature that makes it easy to enjoy posts from your friends.
Friend Finder allows you to quickly find your Twitter and Facebook friends and always get their posts. You can choose to receive the full content of their posts -- newsletter style -- via email, or if you prefer to read online on our new Reader.Following your friends on Posterous gives you direct access to what they share publicly - their awesome photo galleries, hilarious rants and quick snapshots. It's your fast track to the best content, a way to start conversations, or just give some quick feedback with a 'Like'.
Launch Friend Finder and you'll start to see some familiar faces and topics. If their account is setup to receive notifications, they'll even receive an email letting them know you've followed them so they can follow you back.
New to Posterous? Click through the slideshow below or watch the video for more details.

Not Your Typical Animated GIFs of Movie Scenes
Sure, there’s nothing new about the ironic use of movie scenes to create quirky animated GIFs, but the ones found on the tumblelog IF WE DON’T, REMEMBER ME. are on another level. Using scenes that perfectly loop without a cut and keeping the animation subtle, these are more surreal and beautiful then your typical in-your-face-jump-cut GIFs. There’s a peacefulness to them that is mesmerizing.
A few of my favorites below, but you can see much more on the site.

Charles Poynton Invented HDTV Square Pixels
Charles Poynton Invented square pixels and 1080
I am the inventor of the number 1080 found in HDTV standards. My efforts resulted in my being awarded SMPTE’s David Sarnoff Gold Medal. See the entries toward the bottom of my Video Engineering page. (My pal Don Craig, who received a Sarnoff medal for a different and well-deserved reason, tells me that his density check reveals that it's gold plated, not solid gold. However, the company that he and a few of his colleagues founded was just sold for USD 306 M, so he's not too upset.)It was 20 years ago today (approximately) that I launched the effort – ultimately successful – to establish square sampling (“square pixels”) as the standard for HDTV.
