Kim Wilde - Cambodia

Kim Wilde - Cambodia
Well he was thailand based
She was an airforce wife
He used to fly weekends
It was the easy life
But then it turned around
And he began to change
She didnt wonder then
She didnt think it strange
But then he got a call
He had to leave that night
He couldnt say too much
But it would be alright
He didnt need to pack
Theyd meet the next night
He had a job to do
Flying to cambodia

And as the nights passed by
She tried to trace the past
The way he used to look
The way he used to laugh
I guess shell never know
What got inside his soul
She couldnt make it out
Just couldnt take it all
He had the saddest eyes
The girl had ever seen
He used to cry some nights
As though he lived a dream
Ans as she held him close
He used to search her face
As though she knew the truth
Lost inside cambodia

But then a call came through
They said hed soon be home
She had to pack a case
And they would make a rendez-vous
But now a year has passed
And not a single word
And all the love she knew
Has disappeared out in the haze
Cambodia - dont cry now - no tears now

And now the years have passed
With not a single word
But there is only one thing left
I know for sure
She wont see his face again

"... This clip is from a concert he did in England in 1964 together with Harry "Sweet" Edison on trumpet. The fine rhythm group has one of the world's best drummers, Jo Jones.
Coleman is alway so comfortable on the plain twelve bar blues.A head arrangement was made and called "Stoned", a blues in Bb. ..."

Tour

Elvis Presley Fan Clubs were advised in mid-1967 that Elvis's Gold Cadillac would be touring.

The Cadillac was hoping to raise $100,000 for seventeen charities around the country.

Before leaving the USA, Elvis placed $1,000 inside the lucky Cadillac.

The Cadillac departed the States on the 8th of December, 1967.

The Cadillac arrived in Australia in early January, 1968.

The Cadillac cleared Customs.

The Cadillac was touring.

The Cadillac held a press conference in Sydney, Australia on the 17th of January.

The Cadillac went on the road immediately.

The Cadillac replaced its gold bumper bar with a standard bar!

The Cadillac never idled!

Thousands of the Cadillac's fans saw the Cadillac.

The Cadillac had voyeurs.

The Gold records were around the Cadillac:
Gold Singles, Extended, Play-a-Long Play records.

The Cadillac's EPhemera:

  • Souvenir photograph on glossy cardboard (7x9) of Elvis Presley's Gold Limousine with full technical details printed on the back.

  • Souvenir brochure (16 pages in 7x9 format).

  • Souvenir leaflet from Preston Motors Victoria printed on one side (5x8) announcing all proceeds are going to the Citizens Welfare Service of Victoria.

  • Two (2) Black and White RCA Australia pictures. These were previously available when purchasing Elvis records at various record stores and shops.

  • Various Elvis Australian RCA records. These were special printed Gold Label singles, Extended Play and Long Play records made just for this tour.

  • There was also a nice and attractive gold car autographed sticker given to you, if you wanted it affixed to each record you purchased.

On 18th August 1977, after a private service inside Graceland, Elvis's body was placed in a gleaming white 1977 Miller-Meteor Landau Traditional Cadillac hearse. Then, a brilliantly shining silver Cadillac limousine led the procession, with the hearse followed by sixteen white Cadillac limousines carrying the mourners to the Memphis Cemetery.

Elvis's generosity, especially in giving gifts of automobiles to friends, family, associates and complete strangers was legendary, as was his preference for Cadillac cars. Sometimes he would test drive them himself for a few days before giving them away.

The Cadillac's special Gold and Black records went along for the ride-- forty in number.

The Cadillac went on a short tour of New Zealand before it returned to the States. The Benevolent Society Charity Committee sent a Letter of Appreciation, stating that the Cadillac had raised $149,175 for charity after all expenses were deducted.

Elvis Presley was made an Honorary Life Governor and proudly hung the plaque on the wall in his Hall of Gold, in his house, called Graceland.
