Most people know these emotions as Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’s five stages of grief. But did you know these five stages can describe an executive’s adoption of social customer relationship management? So says analyst R “Ray” Wang, who found that of 31 sales executives, support executives and COO’s almost 68 percent expressed denial, 16 percent felt anger, and more than 9.6 percent were bargaining, 3 percent felt depressed, and more than 3.2 percent came to acceptance. In many consumer and classic B2C industries, the data will show that some significant population group is having a conversation in a social channel. The next set of questions to answer, “Can they be influenced and will they buy?” Now, if the data shows that customers, for example in classic B2B industries such as aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), have barely adopted any social tools, then it will make sense to wait till social media adoption has hit a critical mass.

Whatever your thoughts are about iPhone photography - or any photography taken with a mobile phone camera, you can't get away from the fact that it is now intrinsically embedded into today's society. I studied analogue photography and have a DSLR, but for years now, the iPhone has been the only camera that I have needed. His next big project, though, is seeking the miracle of creating enough green energy to bring the third world up without putting the environment six feet under. Where the miracle comes in is that he’s not for cutting energy usage so much as cutting carbon emissions; not by a third, not by a half, but completely. When asked about what this “miracle” looks like, Gates responded: To have the kind of reliable energy we expect, and to have it be cheaper and zero carbon, we need to pursue every available path to achieve a really big breakthrough. I certainly don’t want the government to only pick a few paths, because our probability of success is much higher if we’re pursuing many, many paths. Think about all the people who are getting up every day and working on solutions that may seem kind of delusional even though the odds against them are higher than they realize. The world needs all these people trying things out and believing in them. In IT, there were tons of dead ends—but there was enough of a success rate to have an unbelievable impact.
