When a strange man who calls himself Mr Johnson [Arthur Roberts] comes into their office 'dying' for a blood transfusion, Dr Rochelle [Ace Mask] and Nurse Nadine Story [Traci Lords] become part of an alien's attempt to conquer Earth for its blood supply. The planet Davanna is in great need of blood, and Johnson has been sent to investigate the quality of Earth's supply. Johnson is on a five point plan: 1) study earthlings, 2) transmit quantities of human blood for testing, 3) send a live specimen, 4) survive (the ultimate test), and 5) the conquest of earth, if justified by his survival. Many boob shots and blood-drained corpses later, Johnson commands Nadine to enter the specimen transporter. As she prepares to obey, Johnson is pursued by Officer Harry Sherborne [Roger Lodge], whose loud siren causes Johnson to crash his car. Johnson is buried in a grave marked: Here lies a man who was not of this earth. As Officer Sherborne and Nurse Nadine walk away from Johnson's grave, another man dressed like Johnson and carrying a similar briefcase (actually a blood extractor) approaches.

A science fiction vampire movie. The Vampire is an emissary from an embattled world near destruction who teleports to Earth to see if they can live here. He finds that our blood is nourishing and that at least one source of it is a steady stream of transfusions. He hypnotizes a Dr. to provide them and has his blond nurse move in to administer them.

"Any unauthorized exhibition, distribution or copying of this film or any
part thereof (including soundtrack) is an infringement of the relevant
copyright and will subject the infringer to severe civil and criminal
prosecution... not to mention a one-way ticket to Davanna."

A mysterious stranger known only as Mr. Johnson turns up and demands a blood transfusion. Dr. Rochelle grants him the blood, and sends his nurse Nadine Story to stay with him, in order for him to get his daily transfusion. Dr. Rochelle becomes interested in Mr. Johnson's blood, especially when it turns out to be nothing like normal human blood. It gets even weirder, when Mr. Johnsons servant, Jeremy notices people entering the house and not leaving. Nadine decides that she must search the house in order to find out the truth about Mr. Johnson.

  • Crew or equipment visible: Camera and film crew visible in reflection on Nadine's boyfriend's black car door.

  • Continuity: During the three way chase between Nadine, Mr. Johnson, and the cops it switches from night to day several times.

  • Continuity: In the shower scene where Traci is toweling off, in the mirror, she is wearing black pumps, then in the next view she is suddenly barefooted.

A nurse is assigned to help a strange man requiring regular blood transfusions at his home. He is really an alien checking out humans for harvesting their blood, since his race is dying out because of intergalactic nuclear wars. An assistant joins him as the final studies of blood are being completed, but the nurse, her boyfriend, and a local doctor begin figuring it out and resistThe opening credits feature a montage of clips from various other Roger Corman movies, including Battle Beyond the Stars (1980), Forbidden World (1982), Galaxy of Terror (1981), Humanoids from the Deep (1980), Battle Beyond the Sun (1960) and Piranha (1978). Sample footage from each of these movies appears numerous times throughout the movie as filler footage, as well as two full-length scenes from Hollywood Boulevard (1976) and "Humanoids from the Deep".

Director Jim Wynorski made a bet with Roger Corman that he could shoot the movie in twelve days. Wynorski finished the film in eleven and a half days.

Becky LeBeau's scream was done by Michelle Bauer.

Angel Tompkins did the voice of Rebecca Perle's Davanna Girl character.
Three frat boys sneak into the Tri-Delt sorority to witness the initiation of new pledges and are caught. The pledges must go to the local bowling lane and steal a trophy, aided by the unwanted frat boys. An accident causes the trophy to break, releasing an evil imp who then begins wreaking havoc with the teens, who begin suffering an attrition problem.
The budget was too low to rent the bowling alley during peak daytime hours, so the cast and crew had to wait till the bowling alley closed at 9pm, then shot all night till 9am.

In Static-X's song "I'm With Stupid", Linnea Quigley's line from the movie "Yeah, it was...very stupid." is sampled.
Jeremy: [looking at a reflection of Nadine changing] That's a nice little mole you have on your left cheek.

The janitor tells a story about a man named Dave McCabe. This was director David DeCoteau's alternate name when he directed adult films.
