The Beach Boys perform and discuss their career. Brian Wilson is interviewed in bed and tells how he stayed in bed for three years looking at his chest and smelling cologne. Dennis Wilson says Brian is crazy! Brian says that during the first few years of Beach Boys fame, Dennis was the sex symbol of the group.
Brian, Carl and Dennis in the studio improvising a song at the piano and telling how mean their father was. The boy's high school music teacher tells how he gave Brian's song, "Surfin" an "F." Brian celebrates his 34th birthday party with Paul and Linda McCartney in attendance. Van Dyke Parks is interviewed at Tower Record store on Sunset Boulevard. The Beach Boys sing in a Pentecostal church with an all-black choir.
Dan Akroyd and John Belushi dressed as surf police drag Brian out of bed, drive him to the beach, and send him into the ocean in his pajamas and bathrobe. Songs include: "Fun, Fun, Fun," "Be True To Your School," "God Only Knows," "I Get Around," "Good Vibrations," "Sloop John B.," "California Girls," "Help Me Rhonda," "Wouldn't It Be Nice." Dennis Wilson sings: "You Are So Beautiful."

Band of the Hand, written and recorded by Bob Dylan as Soundtrack Opening Theme for the eponymous 1986 movie, was recorded on tour in Sydney Australia, February 9 and 10, 1986. Dylan is backed by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (backup band '86 tour) with a group of background sisters and Stevie Nicks singing backing vocals. The title track appeared on the soundtrack and as a single, but has never been released.
BotH's lyrics emphasize the central theme's vigilante justice used to confront the criminal drug-world. Although titled "BotH," the song's refrain is sung, "It's Hell Time, Man."
BotH,"was released as Soundtrack LP, 45", 7" AND 12" single, 1986.
The film's plot involves a group of juvenile delinquents in their teens who, doomed to be prosecuted as adults for their crimes, take part in a new and experimental "program," led by a Vietnam Vet/Native American from the Everglades of Florida. The teens must learn to survive in the swamp and work together. Upon completion of the program, the group buy a vacant house in dangerous 1980s Miami and slowly rebuild the neighborhood--kicking out the pimps, prostitutes and drug dealers. The film's climax has the group taking the fight directly to a drug manufacturing facility, equipped with an "M-134 Mini-gun."

Village Voice critic, Robert Christgau praised 'CCK' as "the toughest Vietnam Vet song yet," and record producer, Maury O'Rourk would later go on to include "Clean Cut Kid" on Linda Gail Lewis's 'International Affair' [Robert Christgau: 'A-' 1991 Village Voice "Pazz and Jop"]. This was Jerry Lee Lewis' sister's first solo LP in almost 20 years, released in 199 on Paris-based, "New Rose Records."

The BBC was videotaping an interview with Wener Herzog about 2005 movie Grizzly Man, a documentary about how young environmentalists Timothy Treadwell and Amie Huguenard were killed by bears while attempting to live among them in Alaska. (The movie was reviewed this past August by our own Ryan Stewart.) Cue the bizarre: while filming an outside scene, some miscreant shot at Herzog with an air rifle, apparently hitting him in the abdomen. Herzog insisted he wasn't hurt, and said he didn't want the BBC to try and chase down the offender.
The bizarro scene is even more amazing considering the interview that follows. At the interview's 4:00 minute mark, we see Herzog sitting with Treadwell's ex-girlfriend, listening to the tape that Treadwell made during the attack; the lens cap was on Treadwell's video camera, so only the sound was captured. Herzog whispers to the woman: "Julie, you must never listen to this." "I know, Werner," she replies tearfully, "I'm never going to." (Herzog chose not to include the audio in his film.) In another clip, Herzog describes Treadwell's irrational fearlessness of nature, and his belief that the natural world was in "balance and harmony". "I believe the common denominator of the universe is not harmony," intones Herzog, "but chaos, hostility, and murder."
Maybe the shooter was just trying to drive the point home.

The Concert for Kampuchea (subtitled "Rock for Kampuchea") is a musical film from the best of the Concerts for the People of Kampuchea. The film was directed by Keith McMillan and was 4 nights of concerts in Hammersmith Odeon to raise money for the victims of Pol Pot's reign of terror in Cambodia. The event was organized by Paul McCartney and Kurt Waldheim (who was then Secretary-General of the U.N.), and it involved well-established artists such as McCartney, The Who and Queen as well as younger new wave acts like The Clash and the Pretenders.
The film finishes with the presentation of Wings' Rockestra (more of 25 musicians playing together). They get on stage, sing, and get off with intermissions.
Filmed in 1979, Concert for Kampuchea did not receive American theatrical distribution until it was picked up by Miramax in 1988.

William "Bill" Durks was born on April 17, 1913, in Jasper, Alabama to normal parents, and had four normal siblings. As Ward Hall wrote in My Very Unusual Friends (1991), Bill "looked like he had been hit in the face with an axe". He suffered from frontonasal dysplasia, a birth defect that occurs when the two halves of an embryo's face fail to come together completely. He had a deeply cleft lip and palate and a bifid, or double, nose - each half having only one nostril. In addition, he was born with both eyes sealed shut and had them surgically opened when he was a small boy, and most accounts indicate that he was blind in one eye.
Bill didn't join the freak show until he was in his forties. A struggling sharecropper in rural Alabama, Bill was discovered at a local carnival in his hometown and invited to go on tour. He left behind his dismal life for one of fame and fortune, and became the "Man with Three Eyes", using stage makeup to paint a third eye between the bridges of his two noses. Photographs show that Bill's third eye was an obvious fake, but he seems to have fooled a generation of carnival-goers and was a huge success. He worked with Kelly-Sutton Shows, James E. Strates Shows and Hubert's Museum, making up to $100 a week - a modest sum by today's standards, but a far better living than he had made growing cotton. He even experienced Hollywood in 1973, playing a sanitorium inhabitant in Brian DePalma's Sisters
By all accounts, Bill was a shy and introverted man, his unusual appearance having made it difficult for him to interact with people for the first forty years of his life. He usually hid his strange face under a wide-brimmed hat when on tour. He was illiterate and had a hard time talking due to the profound deformity of his lip and palate. Despite all this, however, Bill would find love in the freak show, when the "Anatomical Wonder" Melvin Burkhart introduced him to Mildred "Milly" Durks, the alligator-skinned woman.
Milly was older than Bill, having been born November 22, 1901, in New Jersey. The two were married and enjoyed many years together as the World's Strangest Married Couple, before Milly passed away in June of 1968 in her hometown of Somerset. Bill kept right on performing for several more years before retiring to Gibsonton, where he died on May 7, 1975.

Traci Lords (born Nora Louise Kuzma May 7, 1968), also known as Traci Elizabeth Lords and Tracy Lords, is an American film actress, producer, film director, writer and singer. She first achieved notoriety for her underage appearances in pornographic films and Penthouse magazine (she was 15 years old in her first film), later becoming a television and B-movie actress.
Nora Kuzma's parents divorced when she was a young girl. Her mother decided to move her family, which consisted of Nora and her three sisters, to a new life. They found it in Lawndale, California - just east of Redondo Beach. Nora entered Redondo Union High School in 1983 and she appears in the Fusion '83 yearbook. She was also on the Junior Varsity Swim Team. When she was fifteen she became pregnant and decided to have an abortion - which she paid for herself. Also at fifteen, wild child Nora finally ran away from home and an older male "friend" took her to Jim South's World Modeling Agency of Sherman Oaks, California. She signed up using the name Kristie Elizabeth Nussman, producing valid-looking documents attesting to her identification and age. South had Nora, or Kristie, strip while he took Polaroid photos as a test shoot. She was sent on her first real "assignment" shortly thereafter.
Nora/Kristie soon changed her name to Traci Lords. She says she chose the name "Lords" as a sort of homage to her favorite actor, Jack Lord of Hawaii 5-0 fame.
The earliest spellings of her name vary from "Tracie" to "Tracy" to "Traci" - the final spelling that she still uses today. This name game even led to an Adult Video News (AVN) columnist to comment in the November 1984 issue: "How do you spell a name? Tracy Lords, Tracie Lords or Traci Lords? Since it's gotta be a fake name anyway, this little cutie probably doesn't care how we spell it, as long as she can cash her check each Friday when she finishes her weekly film." Within just a few short months, Traci went from being a featured performer to Adult Film Mega-Star. She was at the top. Her videos outsold other porn starlets' by 10-to-1. Traci's sexual fervor and appetite on the set were unparalleled according to many of her costars. They say that she enjoyed what she did and couldn't get enough. The Traci Lords "orgasm" is legendary - those screams and squeals are instantly recognizable. In the summer of 1986 the FBI raided an apartment at the corner of Catalina and Garnet in Redondo Beach - Traci's apartment. They found her fake IDs. Traci's ride was over. Reportedly an anonymous tip to the authorities led to the raid. There have been some that claim Traci's mother or that even Traci herself was the informant. Traci had just recently formed her own company, The Traci Lords Company, and was producing her own Adult Films. What better way to corner the Traci Lords market than by making all previous films legally unavailable? This is, of course, only one of many theories and is probably untrue. Who knows? What is known is that Traci's escapades almost brought down the Adult Film Industry with thousands of cassettes being pulled and indictments flying left and right. Traci was never prosecuted. "One day Traci Lords will wind up as the cornerstone of a bank..." Traci disappeared. She needed to distance herself from her former life. Traci denies much of her past and claims a major cocaine addiction and exploitation at the hands of the porn industry. She sometimes states that she doesn't even remember making the videos that made her hundreds of thousands of dollars, she was either too drunk or too high. Others say that this is a bunch of crap. More than a few past acquaintances have noted Traci's tendency to lie - even about silly, pointless things. To this day, many claim Traci is an habitual liar and just can't help herself. She later took voice and ballet lessons, and trained at the Lee Strasberg Institute in Hollywood. She released an "exercise" video and got the lead in Not of This Earth. Her straight career was finally going somewhere. On the set of Cry Baby she met Brook Yeaton, a propmaster, and the two were married on September 29, 1990 in a traditional Catholic ceremony. In 1995 the couple divorced (also a Catholic tradition). In 1996 Traci became engaged to John Enos. In 1997 they broke up.
On June 26, 1999 Traci married actor Ryan Riel Grainger. In February 2000 Traci filed for divorce in Torrance Superior Court citing irreconcilable differences. The couple had been living apart since January 5, reportedly.

Today Traci gets regular film and TV work. Some are bit parts with only a line or two and some are starring roles.
In 1995 Traci released a CD of techno dance music entitled '1000 Fires.'
