Linda Gail Lewis: Bad Motorcycle

Jerry Lee & Linda Gail Don't Let Me Cross Over -

Jerry Lee Lewis & Linda Gail Lewis
FebRuary 1979. Federal Agents descend on the Killer's Memphis ranch to take his possessions in lieu of tax payments. As the agents tow away his five motorcycles, two Lincoln Continentals, a Corvette Stingray, a Ford sedan, a Rolls Royce, a black-and-gold Cadillac, a jeep and a tractor, Jerry Lee throws a hand-full of bullets at them... "Next time they'll be comin' 'atcha much faster."

A dozen miles away, on an airport runway, the Killer's private DC3 and Corvair Turbojet stand burning and gutted. He'd torched them the night before.

May 1980 and Jaren Pate, the Killer's fourth wife, takes him to court, accusing him of threatening her life. A year later she accidentally drowns in a swimming pool. April 1982 and the Killer marries Shaw Kleinhans [WTF???].
Three months later she dies of a drugs overdose.

He then recommences the Devil's boogie.

When a DVD is called "The Jerry Lee Lewis Show", it is hard to know that he will only be on the actual show about 1/4 of the time! I love Jerry Lee, but this was NOT him. His sister was OK. The stuff with Carl Perkins was pretty good. But I basically liked 3 songs out of the whole DVD. Since I believe it was on in 1971, maybe he was trying to clean up his image, but all he did was something that, to my mind, is not Jerry Lee Lewis. I was very young when it aired, and since we not only had no TV, but no Jerry Lee, I have never seen this before. so maybe this seems harsher than a review by someone who lived through that era as an adult who liked Jerry Lee (or some of the other performers). First DVD of his that I wish I hadn't gotten. Oh Well. I had a difficult time finding out info on this DVD anywhere on the web. So I am going to list what is actually on it:

1) Short intro--Whole Lotta Shakin'- Jerry Lee (not the whole song) 2) When you were a Tulip--Linda Gail Lewis (slow boring song) 3) Deliliah--Bill Strom (OK) 4)
Bad Motorcycle-Linda Gail Lewis, Jerry Lee (weird kind of music video)
5) God Bless America--Sound Generation (beautiful, wholesome young singers, again- no interest, and no Jerry Lee) 6) Autumn Leaves--Jerry Lee (singing with his arms crossed, no piano by Jerry Lee, and slow boring song) 7) Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher-- Jackie Wilson (who I don't know and who's singing did not appeal to me) 8) Lonely Teardrops--Jackie Wilson again 9) Things That Matter--Linda Gail Lewis (boring) 10) Joy In My Heart-- The Rust College Quintet (sqeaky clean young people, boring) 11) Strangers in the Night--Linda Gail Lewis (they should have called it "The Linda Gail Lewis Show"!) 12) Up, Up and Away--Sound Generation (again-stupid AND boring, you know--like elevator music) 13) Medley: Once More with Feeling/Another Place, Another Time/What Made Milwaukee Famous/One Minute Past Eternity--Jerry Lee (finally some good music, except that they were only bits of each song) 14) Honey Don't--Carl Perkins (good one, I've never heard him play before, he plays a mean guitar) 15) Medley: Mean Woman Blues/Blue Suede Shoes--Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee duet (the only reason, in my opinion, to get this DVD. Really good.) 16) I Will Follow Him--Linda Gail Lewis (I think this is a religious song-I say I think it is, because the minute I heard the beginning words I skipped it; I hate religious music) 17) Daddy sang Bass--Carl Perkins & Linda Gail Lewis (Pretty good song, at least it had a good beat, and I recognized it) 18) I'll Fly Away--Jackie Wilson (Two strikes against this one- Jackie Wilson, and religion) 19) Down the Sawdust-- Carl Perkins & Linda Gail Lewis (OK song) 20) This Land is Your Land--All of them (I am very patriotic, but what the heck is this song doing on here?) So that is the list, and my personal opinions of the songs. This show really reminded me of a Lawrence Welk show. Sadly, I also dislike that show.
